Others have posed theories regarding the significance of the V-formation. Right now, I am just using this page as a place to collect V-formation images for later analysis and enjoyment for whoever is interested.

Balance
The V-formation first appears in Balance. When Michael is sick he has a vision of the map in the desert. After looking at the rock formation symbol, Michael looks at the real rock formation and the stars behind it form into the V-shape. I don't have a screencap of this yet. These are the first images I have of the V-formation. The first one is the Cave Map with the healing stones in it. The symbols at the location of each healing stone are described here.

Blind Date
The V-formation shows during the flashes that Liz gets while Max kisses her. This is one of several flashes, but it is interesting how it is combined with their kiss.

Sexual Healing
Here the V-formation is implied in Max and Liz's hand-holding as well as in the lighting effect behind their parents.

Four Square
Michael and Isabel begin having visions of the V in their flashes of "mating." Max and Liz try to analyze the constellation. An excerpt from their conversation is below on the right.
LIZ: Let's go look it up. Let's see . . . Aries, it's the first sign of the Zodiac, the key astronomical element in many ancient traditions involving, spring, the equinox, pagan ceremonies, and even Indian fertility rituals. But it's not quite the same V shape you described.
MAX: Try creating a constellation pattern for today's date.
LIZ: Oh, wow, it's Venus. When it's in the right place in the sky, it completes the V shape. It started moving into this formation after the last full moon.

Ask Not
Now in Season 2. Who knows if this arrangement of the background lights is intentional or not? If one starts to look, there are probably many V-formations in the backgrounds.

The Granilith
First shown in Surprise, the Granilith is another V-shape that is significant to the podsters. This image is taken from Summer of '47.

Max in the City
Max has the "Royal Seal" stenciled on his brain! The second image is in Rath and Lonnie's "crib." Rath is discussing his drawing with Max.
MAX: So this is the royal seal?
RATH: You got it. And these are the 5 worlds of our star system.
MAX: And that one . . . that's home? Home.
RATH: Bingo. That's how the emissary knew you were the real deal. You got the royal seal stenciled on your brain.

Departure
When Max and Liz kiss, they tend to put their hands on each other's faces. This often foms a "V" as illustrated during this farewell kiss in Departure.

Departure
Symbolic arrangement of the characters in the final scene of Season 2. Most theorists seem to agree that this is the V-formation. Some add that Michael and Maria stand together as one.
