Pilot Review
Written by Kara

All right, I didnt actually start watching Roswell on TV until the 12th episode. My friend was obsessed and made me watch her tape of the Pilot. But when she told me about it I thought it sounded like the cheesyest thing I had ever heard of- Dawsons Creek type teenagers, except for the fact that their aliens, and they have to deal with their teenage angst while running from the sheriff. But as some famous person said, Dont ever be afraid to admit you were wrong. Its like saying youre wiser today than you were yesterday. Im sorry that I dont know who said it; please dont sue me. Well this episode is my all time favorite of any TV show, so Ill get to the review. Kudos to you if you actually read all my rambling.

The first scene opens with Liz Parker sitting outside on this really cool balcony at night. This balcony is actually big and sturdy enough to put things on, unlike most that are just iron bars a few feet out. So Liz is huddled up in blankets on a big wicker lawn chair writing in a journal, and lucky us, we get to hear what she is writing, Its September 23rd. Im Liz Parker, and five days ago I died. After that, things got really weird.

This next scene we assume is a flashback to five days ago. Liz is wearing a short little alien uniform with a sparkly antenna headband. She seems to be a waitress and is seen coming out of the kitchen with a look of intense concentration while the song Save Tonight plays. Im not sure if it was playing in the caf, or just as background music. I guess well never know. Liz delivers a couple plates of greasy alien themed food to some wacky looking tourists. They are in town for the Crash Festival, an annual Roswell ritual, where people dress up as aliens and cheer as a small model space ship crashes and starts burning My advice is just not to question the customs of the natives. Liz gets her kicks showing an alien picture to the gullible couple (Larry and Jen) while she rolls her eyes and exchanges a secret smile with a fellow waitress, Maria. We see Maria offer coffee to some burly hick men, maybe cattle farmers, who shoo her away and continue arguing. Liz joins her at the coffeepot. Maria makes a remark about Liz and her photo, and then says, Max Evans is staring at you again. To which Liz responds with utter shock, No way! She protests that she is going out with Kyle, and then proceeds to describe him in such an unenthusiastic way that can do nothing but prepare us for a break up in the near future. We also get our first glimpse of Max, which isnt that flattering. I guess that the producers dont want us to think hes a hottie until he becomes the hero by saving Lizs life. Whoops, did I say that? Well you already know she dies, so I better keep going.

Maria walks away to do something, and the burly men jump up and smash some plates. One pulls out a gun, and while they fight, the gun goes off and hits Liz. After this climatic moment, the tension is relieved between the men and they run out together.

Crawling on the floor, Maria sees Lizs legs looking trunkish and dead, but Max pushes her out of the way after overcoming his own companion and reaches Liz first. He rips open her cute uniform to reveal a polkadotted bra and lots of blood around her stomach. He looks deeply and desperately into her eyes, and places his hand over the blood. After seeing images of Liz as a little girl, it appears that he has healed her. He hovers over her for a few moments and then dumps some catsup on her, asking her not to tell anyone. He then drives off with his companion, Michael.

The next scene is of the Crashdown Caf with Liz telling her father and the sheriff that she is all right, while Maria tries to use cartoon imagery to describe the burly men to a deputy. The wacko tourists, Larry and Jen, pop up again to propose their alien theory to the sheriff with Lizs picture as proof, and the sheriff spies some empty Tabasco bottles, which appear to be significant, but I still dont see how they are incriminating. I guess thats why Im not a sheriff.

That night, Liz goes up to her insufficiently lit room and looks at the bullet hole in her dress. She takes off the uniform, and, for some unknown reason, stuffs it in her bookbag. She goes back to the mirror and sees a silver handprint as well as a polka-dotted bra.

The next day at school, Liz sits alone in s boring bio class, when Max, her lab partner, walks in late and promptly begins to chew on his pencil. He wont look at Liz and leaves the room again when he learns that he has to test his cheek cells for the lab. But Liz is crafty and takes the cells from his pencil to compare to her own. His look much more like plant cells that human cells. Class is over in a few minutes, and Liz rushes to catch up to Max. She drags him into the music room where they are surprised by Kyle. He is wearing huge sunglasses in a dark room while he plays some weird drums and looks about 10 years older than Liz and Max.

After some awkward explanations and pauses, Liz and Max are finally alone. I definitely smell a break up soon. So Liz asks Max if hes an alien, and he says yeah, I am. Liz had great lines and expressions in this scene, but I was disappointed with Max. I mean, when Liz asked him where he came from, and he pointed up, no real teenage alien would do that. Oh well. Liz gets freaked out and tries to run, but Max stops her and begs for her silence.

Next we see Maria again chattering to Alex, a new character, supposedly Maria and Lizs good friend. Maria keeps asking him whats going on with Liz, and he keeps saying how should he know and nothing happened, it says so right here. Im glad that Alex has such confidence in his newspapers.

Suddenly, its lunchtime, and Max is eating tacos with two amigos. They are both super mad at him, and we learn that Isabel, his sister, and Michael are also aliens. Isabel has bright nail polish on and does some cool thing to her taco to heat it up.

At the same time, Maria confronts Liz in the bathroom with a bloody order book, But Liz still refuses to give information.

Back in their Jeep the alien trio argue about weather or not to leave Roswell. Michael is all for it because he hates his foster father, but Max and Isabel dont want to leave their homes. The sheriff pulls them over for no reason, and again notices the suspicious Tabasco bottles. He thinks that he is cracking the case.

That night, Kyle walks Liz home from their date, which seems to have been unsuccessful when Liz says goodnight and Kyle replies, Oh, right, right. You gotta love Kyle; hes like this big dumb lug. Anyway, he sees the handprint on Lizs stomach (youd think she would wear a longer shirt, knowing its there), and he kind of glares and walks away.

Later that night, Liz is sitting on her balcony, and Max whispers up to her that they need to talk. She comes down and lets him into the Crashdown, where they share another image connection, and Liz realizes that Max is both lonely and in love with her.

After the commercial break, we see a collage of scenes with Max and Liz and hear her voice over: Max Evans has put a force on me. Its like my whole life changed in an instant. Its just so ironic, that the first time this happened to me, it was with an alien. Does this mean that she fell in love with him? It certainly seems like it, but then why does she continue to date Kyle?

Later, Liz is looking for her bookbag, and runs into Alex, who seems very wishy-washy. He just wants to hear that everything is OK. Liz tells him that it is, but is then told to report to the sheriffs office. He shows her pictures of a murder victim with the same silver handprint, and asks her to lift up her shirt. Now thats sexual harassment if you ask me, but who is she going to tell; the sheriff is the authority figure there. Liz does what he says, but the hand has vanished. He changes the subject to Max, and she lies to protect him. When nothing else works, the sheriff takes out her bookbag with the maimed uniform in it. Why was that still in her bag after two days? Thats kind of gross.

The sheriff tries to convince an Agent Stevens that Liz was shot and that Max is an Alien, but Stevens had none of it. He took the dress, and took off. We learn that Sheriff Valentis father was an alien hunter as well and everyone thought he was crazy.

Liz gets Max from PE, and drags him to the art room. The fine arts at their school must be really unpopular; no one is ever in those rooms. Except Kyle, but hes a dork anyways. I want to know everything. Liz declares, probably something she should have said last night before she decided to fall in love with an alien. She has written a list of questions: Where did you come from? What powers do you have? She learns about the pods and the other two aliens. Max tells her that he can connect with people, and they both look embarrassed. Then he tells her that he can manipulate the molecular structure, a phrase they use all too much. Liz is happy when Max tells her that he risked his life for her, and then she tells him about Valenti. Max gets freaked out and goes to tell Isabel that they have to leave Roswell. Isabel is dressed in a really funky space outfit for the festival.

Next, Liz is engaged in another confrontation. Maria tells her that she better fess up of she will tell the sheriff what she knows. Maria is also dressed up for the festival and has some greenish black goo on her lips. She says that she wont flip out, so Liz tells her and she flips out. Typical.

Max and Isabel wait for Michael in their Jeep and then the three take off. Michael is excited when Max tells them about the picture with the handprint, but being the cool cat that she is, Isabel tries to dash his hopes. Calm down, Michael. We had one potential relative 40 years ago. All we know about him was that he was a potential killer.

Maria and Liz are also driving around. Maria is freaking out, so really Liz should be driving. They pass the Jeep, and Liz screams for a U-turn. They chase the aliens up an ally and block their exit. Maria finds out about the other two aliens, and Liz tries to convince them to stay. Max says that he will turn himself in to Valenti, so the other two agree to listen to Lizs plan.

The plan is Liz dressed in leather, looking kittenish to seduce Kyle. It also includes Maria rolling in the dirt. At the festival, Valenti questions Max, and when Max denies everything, Valenti handcuffs him, with the compelling exchange, Arent you going to read me my rights? Do you have any? Ooo! Thats harsh.

At that same time, Isabel pretends to hit Maria with the car, and a costumed creature pretends to heal her with a handprint. Valenti chases the person and grabs his shoulder, only to find out that its his son Kyle. We see Michael in a porto-potty taking off the identical costume.

Valenti looks down at his hand to find silver paint, which is funny, because he never even touched the hand on Maria. So he assaults Max, and tells him that he will find out the truth, but in the end he lets him go. Max joins Isabel and Michael at the fence to watch the mock crash and the burning alien bodies. They stand there sad and dispirited while the masses around them jump and cheer. Its kind of morbid.

However, Max spots Liz on a ledge, and goes up to see her. They both express their interest in each other, but they cant be together because theyre different. This is my favorite scene of all time; its so sweet when he walks away. Liz says Max, I never got to thank you for saving my life. He pauses and then says, Thank you. Oh, I just melt every time I watch it.

At the very end, the flashback is over and Liz is on her balcony writing again: Its September 24th. Im Liz Parker, and five days ago I died. After that the really amazing thing happened- I came to life. The date is a little messed up (She died 5 days before both the 23rd and the 24th), but its great anyway.

Rating: 3 thumbs up
Best scene: last one
Best quote: Liz: Why? Max: It was you
and: Maria: Liz, were in a Jetta.

The Morning After Review
Written by Kara

Well, the first time I saw this episode, I thought that it was just ordinary- I mean, great because its Roswell, but nothing compared to the first and my all time favorite episode, the Pilot. But when watching it the second time, a noticed all these funny parts that even made me laugh out loud.

The episode begins with another of Lizs voice over journal entries talking about Max and how she will never look at anything the same way again. It is the middle of the night, and Liz ends her entry with, Is [Max] also obsessed, tortured, going through one sleepless night to the next, wondering what's going to happen between us?

Then we cut over to Maxs bedroom, where he is dead asleep, snoring peacefully. Youd think he would be the tortured one because his life is in danger, and his dream girl is with another guy, but oh well. But apparently Max isnt a sound sleeper; he hears a stir at his window and grabs a baseball bat at the side of his bed, showing off his muscles in a wife-beater top. That guy is buff. The prowler turns out to be Michael, who cant sleep and is shocked that Max can, when the key to [their] entire existence is out there. He is referring to the pictures Valenti showed Liz earlier. Max unrolls a sleeping bag for him in a brotherly way, revealing that Michael is frequent night-visitor. But if Michael sneaks in so often, why does Max have a bat and flashlight right by his bed? Does he try to assault Michael every time he enters? They should work out some type of code. The two then discuss the pictures, and Michael begins to plot a way to see them. Poor Max, no one wants him to sleep.

The next day, Michael stakes out the sheriffs office, passing the time by drinking a Pepsi. His hair looks really fuzzy in this scene and throughout this episode.

At the Crashdown, Maria is babbling in her post-flipped out stage. Shes not quite as spooked, but still very wary. She wonders about the aliens powers and identities. Somewhere in this conversation, Liz and Maria substitute the word Czechoslovakian for alien, so that no one will be suspicious of their conversations. But I think that in Roswell, I would be much less likely to notice a discussion of aliens than one about Czechoslovakians. During Marias monologue, Alex suddenly pops up from one of the booths, demanding to know what theyre talking about; see, I told you Czechs were suspicious. He must have been lying down on the seat, otherwise we would have seen his head. Maybe Alex is spying to find out answers. Liz and Maria craftily avoid answering him by simply walking away.

The next day in Geometry, Liz and Max both talk in their separate groups of friends, while Liz has another voice over: The thing about Czechoslovakians that you sorta have to factor in, is they have these incredibly soulful eyes. How true. Anyway, the class has a young, pretty woman as their substitute because Mr. Singer is sick, and Maxs friend comments, I hope hes seriously ill. No, Max, dont laugh at that! Liz gets suspicious of the sub, when she takes role and asks the class where Michael is. It seems like a fair question to me, but I guess Liz is just a little quicker than I am.

After class Liz and Max have a slightly awkward conversation, and Liz tells him of her suspicions, which Max doesnt really buy into. Isabel then comes up with a hearty Hi Liz! and drags Max away. As icy as she is, Isabels great.

At the same time in the Sheriffs station, Valenti notices an FBI officer siting in the corner. Thus ensues a humorous conversation between Valenti and Deputy Hansen:

VALENTI: Good morning. (Walks over to deputy.) Who is that?

DEPUTY: FBI. Agent Hart.

VALENTI: Whos he here to talk to?

DEPUTY: No one, as far as I can tell.

VALENTI: Well, whats he doing here?

DEPUTY: Doesnt appear to be doing anything. He's just been sitting there since 7 am. VALENTI: Deputy Hansen, did you ask him what hes doing here?

DEPUTY: Yes sir, he said that he was here on assignment and that we should go about our business as usual.

VALENTI: Oh, so your response to that was just all right.

All right, so it was funnier in the show, but thats what good acting will do. Valenti tells the agent to leave because he has no jurisdiction, whatever that means.

At school, Liz and Maria talk about the substitute, Ms. Topolsky. Maria picks up on Lizs suspicions and starts running with the whole alien hunter, spy idea. To which Liz replies, Sniff some cedar oil, Maria. Hey, it was her idea to begin with. Maria thinks that they should tell Alex, but Liz complicated the situation by using the word mustnt. Obviously, it isnt in her normal vocabulary. Then the two girls catch sight of Alex showing off to a group of girls with his double-jointed arms. Both of them grimace in unison; its classic.

Back at the lockers, Kyle corners Liz into a heart to heart about the importance of being on time- pretty heavy stuff, and we all thought that Kyle was just some dumb jock. He sure proved us wrong. Liz spots Ms. Topolsky, and somehow manages to tear herself away from Kyles mesmerizing articulations. In her hurry to get away, she actually crashes in to Topolsky in the hall scattering her files on the ground. Liz offers to help retrieve them, and sees a folder with information on Michael, a sure sign that the sub is evil.

Because of this new information, Liz goes to Michaels house to warn him, and finds herself in a trailer park, face to face with Michaels drunken foster father. The visit kind of clears the air between Liz and Michael, though, and he thanks her for telling him.

Back in his office, Valenti takes a key from his paranormal files and puts it in his thermos where it will be safe from the FBI. Smart move, sheriff.

That night, Michael goes to the station pretending to sell candy for charity. He was pretty good; I bet hed do awesome at Girl Scout cookies. But unfortunately, Deputy Hansen, the only one there, is on a diet. Michael learns, however, that no one is in the wing of the sheriffs office after 7:00.

The three aliens convene that night in the Evans house. Max and Isabel are shocked and angry at what Michael did, but he tells them not to worry:

MICHAEL: I didnt just wander in, all right? I had a cover story.

MAX: And what was your cover story?

MICHAEL: I was selling candies for charity. Peanut cluster?

MAX: And they bought it?

MICHAEL: No, they all seemed to be on a diet.

Good one, Michael; it made me laugh, but Max and Isabel werent very amused. Max is, however, somewhat intrigued by breaking in and finding the pictures. He encourages Michael until Isabel gives him the evil eye, and he tries to cover up for it by saying, I just want to know how feasible the plan is...which its not...feasible. Its not feasible, Michael.

Max and Isabels parents come in with pizza and spoil the plotting. There is an uncomfortable moment, where Michael seems to be an intruder in their picture perfect family, and he lies, saying that his dad is cooking dinner, when hes probably passed out somewhere.

The next day in class, Liz corrects Topolsky on a geometry error. Another clue! After class Max asks her about what she told Michael, and thanks her for trying to help, but gently tells her not to do it again. Topolsky is not an alien hunter. But while walking away, Max sees Topolsky talking to Valenti and begins to think that Liz might not be crazy after all.

In the girls bathroom, Maria reads a not from Max to Liz asking her to meet him in the eraser room. We are informed that the eraser room is makeout central, and Maria warns Liz not to go. Liz, I dont think you should do this. OK? I mean, we dont know what can happen. I mean, the guy touched you and you saw into his soul. How do we know what happens if he kisses you? How do we know what it is to be kissed by a Czechoslovakian? You dont. In the crowded bathroom, I wouldnt think that this is the smartest thing for Maria to say. Even though she says Czechoslovakian, she mentions Max and the soul seeing thing. People might wonder at that.

Agent Stevens comes into Valentis office, looking very sinister with dramatic shadows on his face. He tells the sheriff that it was catsup on the dress, and he has government orders to remove all of the sheriff' alien files. But Valenti is smarter than he thinks. He thinks for a moment and then replies dramatically, You found blood on the dress. Why else would you care enough to remove my files. Wouldnt that be a waste of taxpayer dollars? Stevens wont answer him. I tell you- that sheriff is one smart cookie. Valenti takes the thermos with the key and leaves for lunch. All the while, Michael is watching them with binoculars.

At the same time, Liz meets Max in the eraser room. Suprisingly enough, Max is actually cleaning erasers. Liz seems disappointed when Max tells her that they are only there to spy on Topolsky, but he looks at her longingly a few times. While they are waiting, Liz asks him some questions about his past and all that alien stuff. He doesnt really know anything, but says that they were never slimy and green. But if any of you have seen 4 Square, you saw that they were slimy when they came out. That part was a little weird. But maybe Max just doesnt remember it yet. Eventually they hear that Topolsky is going to see Michael at his house tonight.

That evening, Liz asks Maria to cover for her. And what does our perky Deluca respond? OK, so one trip to the eraser room and youre like above working? Go get your uniform on, Madonna. The masses are demanding alien-themed, greasy food and by God, its our job to serve it to them. What an understanding friend. When Liz tries to leave, Alex cuts them off and demands answers again. They threaten him with cramps talk, and he hightails it out of there.

At the same time, Michael tries to convince Max that they have to break in now before theres nothing left. Max tells him about Topolsky and that he shouldnt go home that night. Instead, Max and Liz go to Michaels house to do some more undercover work. Kyle follows them there.

When they are all just sitting there, Kyle sees Liz lean over towards Max to see Topolsky better. He groans and covers his eyes. Then Liz drops her ring and has to lean down over Max to get it. Kyle goes berserk, and gets out of the car. Kyle, get your mind out of the gutter. The three of them then have a bizarre whispering conversation, and poor Kyle ends up even more confused than before. As Topolsky leaves the trailer, she sees Liz in the Jeep.

Later as Max walks Liz home, he kinda sorta asks her out, but not really. Come on Max, will you just do it already. But its sweet.

During all of this, Michael has scaled the wall, and used his powers to break in to the sheriffs office. Isabel and Max go to retrieve him. Of course, the sheriff forgot some papers in his office, so he needs to be distracted. Isabel tells him that she needs help with a flat tire while batting her eyes: Im SO not mechanical. Max also climbed up the drainpipe and warns Michael that Valenti is back. Michael finds the key and has a vision that knocks him to the ground. The sheriff hears it and heads up to the office. Michael takes the key, and the two boys jump from the window into a dumpster.

Valenti is suspicious, but every thing seems to be in order, so he fixes the flat on the jeep, and Isabel drives off. I wonder how Max and Michael got back. Somehow the three get together in the jeep, and they all try the key for visions. No one has any, except for Isabels of Ricky Martin. Michael storms off, and Max follows. They have a heart to heart about Michaels sucky life, and he tries to convince himself that he is the lucky one, because hes not attached to anything.

The next day, Ms. Topolsky tells Liz that she is actually a guidance counselor. Very anticlimactic. And she wants to talk to Michael because he is in danger of expulsion.

After this comes a collage of images with a voice over of Liz talking about secrets.

VOICEOVER: Ever since I found out about Max and Michael and Isabel, Ive been thinking a lot about secrets. That for everyone who has a secret, theres someone else who needs to know what that secret is. (Scene of Valenti discovering that the key is missing.) How sometimes secrets keep people from feeling like they belong. (Scene of Michael watching the Evans family play basketball together in their driveway) And sometimes secrets make you feel like you do belong. (Scene of Liz and Max in the Eraser Room.) And now even I, Liz Parker, the smallest of small town girls with the simplest of lives-- even I have something to hide. (Liz finishes writing in her journal and then smiles.)

Rating: 2 thumbs up
Best scene: Kyle watching Liz and Max in the Jeep
Best quote: MAX: And they bought it?
MICHAEL: No, they all seemed to be on a diet.

Monsters Review

Talk 2 Me...

Topolsky: Sometimes it's hard to move forward with your future until you can figure out your past. So true, so true.

The Basics....

I really like this episode. The interviews between Topolsky and the students were priceless. The interaction between Maria and Isabel was beautiful, and the revealing of how human they really are, was groovy and then the dream walking thing. Ooh, I'm going to melt.

Rewind Moment....

The whole interview with Topolsky and the students, I don't mean to be redundant, but I really liked it. I always love questionnaires like that and it really let you see the characters. Like how Maria is so carefree and Isabel became my role model with her comments, I act the same way. And then we realized how much of a geek Liz was but we still love her.

Makes Me Ill....

Very few, and close to none but it wouldn't be fair if I didn't find anything wrong with this episode. So The graphics in Maria's dreams were too much for me, they were PG, but I just don't like things that aren't easy on the eyes. I take that role model comment back, she was so mean to Maria in this episode, just horrid. I know there's a reason but sometimes Topolsky got tacky with her "future" comments. The "normal" thing was too much for me. And Michael didn't get any airtime. I think Alex got more than him. And I really wanted to do more with that stupid key.

Above Any Other

Majandra Delfino and Katherine Heigl, their chemistry was just so special. Their repartee was witty. Just everything about the two was great and well done by both actresses. I especially like their scene when Isabel's car broke down for the second time. The two are alike in so many ways but they didn't realize that until the end. That's the way episodes should go.

Love Jones....

Max and Liz are an awfully lovable couple. The way they finish each other sentences, and do that eye glaze thing is just dreamy. I liked the opening scene it was modern because of "Genie In A bottle" and the traditional because of the ET reference. Alex was funny and so was the cheese factory guy. You could see the friendship bonds this ep, and how close Max and Is, Maria and Liz are. I like how it was portrayed.

Question

Why wasn't Michael interviewed?
Where in the world does that key go?
Was I the only one who wanted to lock Corey up, and give Michael the key?
Why was Maria the only one working at the Crashdown?
Was the owner of the museum a loser, or is it only me that thinks that?

After All Is Said And Done

The episode ends and previews for the next week's show come on... Just joking. A sound episode, I must say Maria and Isabel really did it for me though.

Leaving Normal Review
Written by Kat

Summary: This is basically a simple, sweet episode without much sci-fi. Kyle is getting more and more upset about the closeness between Max and Liz, and Kyles friends beat up Max because he was hitting on his girlfriend. Lizs grandma (the basis of Lizs existence) comes for a visit but suffers from a stroke while Liz is on a date with Kyle. Now Grandma Claudia is in a coma at the hospital and Liz automatically turns to Max for comfort, but he is torn between being there for Liz and staying in the shadows where it is safe from things like the sheriff and high school football jocks. Michael is busy taking revenge on the jocks who beet up Max, Maria is stuck with managing the crowded Crashdown by herself (accept for the help of Agnes, which doesnt really make a difference), and Isabel is torn between being nice or being an Ice Queen, and eventually decides to take Lizs place at the Crashdown so Liz can be with her family. The sheriff convinces Kyle that Max is bad news and that he should stay away from him, and Alex well Alex has strangely disappeared and no one seams to have noticed. In the end Liz breaks things off with Kyle, and Max decides to step out from the shadows and uses his powers to help Liz say goodbye to Grandma before she dies.

Random Thoughts:

  • I dont care if Michaels powers arent very developed. As long as theyre good enough to be able to humiliate obnoxious football jocks in front of cheerleaders, what else is important?

  • Why is it that it seems whenever a beloved grandparent comes onto a show they are most likely going to die in a matter of minutes?

  • Why does Max have his own phone line? At this point in his life he doesnt have a really big circle of friends except for Michael and Isabel, and he lives with Isabel so she wouldnt be calling him much and Michael doesnt seam like a phone person not that any of this matters at all I am just curious.

  • Did anyone notice what it looked like outside of the Crashdown when Grandma Claudia walked in? It seemed like some sort of Winter Wonderland, but it wasnt snowing. Everything was just white. It looked really weird.

Likes:

  • I love the whole look into my eyes, soul mate thing between Max and Liz. Before Roswell if someone had told me that the most romantic story (in my opinion) was going to be about a girl and an alien I would have never believed them, but the wonders never sece

  • The whole Orthodontist Convention was cute, even though it didnt really serve a whole lot of purpose. What adds to confusion and tragedy more than Tooth People?

Dislikes:

  • I wasnt really crazy about the goodbye scene with Grandma Claudia. It was sweet and emotional but didnt seam to really belong in Roswell, but more like something from PAX. How did Maxs alien powers cause her spirit to come out of her body? Or did that have anything to do with Max trying to use his powers at all?

  • I wish that they gave us a little more time to get used to Grandma Claudia. She was on-screen and conscious for about five minutes before she had the stroke so we didnt have much of a chance to get to know her character at all.

  • Where is Alex???

Sweetest Moment:

I am totally torn between the very beginning scene where Max and Liz were smiling and staring into each others eyes and the Hug scene. I guess I would have to say the Hug scene because it was done so beautifully. It was so sweet how he drove her home and walked her to the door, and didnt even want a thank-you. And they were even wearing matching sneakers. How adorable is that?

My Favorite Quotes:

  • Max: Ill just have an Alien Blast.
    Liz: Me too.
    Max: Excuse me???

  • Liz: No Max hes so not possible. Hes like this whole different-
    Maria: Life form?
    Liz: Type.

  • Isabel: Great job youve found, Max. Real dignified.

  • Michael: Gandhi feeling frustrated?

  • Michael: Lets just hope we can trust her.
    Max: We can trust her.
Michael: Well I dont trust anyone these days.

  • Isabel: So Depressed? Feeling sorry for yourself? Angry at the world?

Max: All of the above.

Overall Rating:

4 Tabasco Sauce bottles out of 5.

Talk 2 Me...

MAX: Liz, I already told you no.
LIZ: Max, I didn't come here for permission.

The Basics....

I came to the realization that Liz really is a nerd in this episode. And on the way our friends escape Topolsky, Michael and Maria become a new reason to watch the show and the first physical love connection, and Max and Liz discover some of the aliens past

Rewind Moment....

"When we kiss.... ooh... FIRE!" Talk about calming somebody down. And it wasnt just the kiss. I liked Isabel getting annoyed with their flirting. And I almost wanted to try, chocolate cake and Tabasco. I guess I just settled for working for the site.

Makes Me Ill....

This is a hard one. What to choose what to choose. Kyle so in love he remembered their first kiss! Theres nothing wrong with that, of course, but how dont like how Liz treats him. And I did not like that River guy trying to scare Liz. Make sure he deserves your trust? What kind of crap was that?

Head Of The Class...

Could Brendan and Majandra have been more convincing? I think not.

Love Jones....

I liked Eddie he was a "G," the joke about the redskin basket was 2 much for me. The whole trick the fbi scheme was clever, I like the excitement of it. And the way they knew the necklaces symbol was entertaining. Michael gets so excited about everything. And how could I forget, the vibes. Ooh.

Break Up 2 Make Up...

The point in River Dog that made the episode all of a sudden suck was, the Topolsky and Valenti hook up. I do not want to see a bunch of thirty somethings making goo- goo eyes at each other. But like the song my attitude melted away when I "calmed down."

Question

Whos Madame Curie?
Kyle was so hooked on Liz, why doesnt anyone like him?
Was the test to see whether or not one of them could make a flashlight with their hands?
Am I the only one who wanted to be calmed down after this ep?
Can someone send me a vibe please?

BLOOD BROTHER Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: Max lands in the hospital after he and Liz get in a minor car accident. With the FBI agents/guidance counselors breathing down their necks, Liz, Maria, Isabel, and Michael have to figure how to switch blood tests to hide Maxs identity, so they go to Alex for help. Alex, who still doesnt know the truth about the aliens, reluctantly helps them and in the end exposes Topolsky as an FBI agent.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

  • The paramedic in the ambulance was the same paramedic who was in the Pilot.

  • Im kind of confused. After Max and Isabel were first found in the desert ten years ago wouldnt they of had to go to a doctor and get blood tests taken to see if they were healthy?

  • Michael had always been the one that was most persistent on running away, and yet this time when Isabel mentioned it he didnt like the idea at all. Hmm I wonder whom there could possibly be that he doesnt want to leave behind?

  • Max has Trig now? I thought that he was in geometry with Liz and Michael.

LIKES:

  • Finally Alex has a chance in the spotlight. I love how even though to him everything must seam like Liz and Maria are on the wrong side he still trusts them enough to risk his life for them. I bet that most people, if they were given a chance to be in Liz or Marias position, would never take a friendship like that for granted, which is why it is so upsetting that they ignore him half the time.

  • The scene where they were bouncing back and forth from Liz and Marias to Max, Isabel and Michaels conversations was really well done. Its so funny how much Maria and Michael have to pretend that they hate each other and always take credit for whatever the other one does.

  • The 70s type cop-movie music was a neat touch.

  • One of my favorite scenes was the one where Alex and Max talked in the hallway. You could really see how much Alex resented Max for taking his best friends away from him, and you could really see how much Max wanted to trust Alex. I hope that they can be good friends someday.

  • Isabel, Maria and Michaels sunglasses were so cute! How very inconspicuous of them.

DISLIKES:

  • Michael really out did himself of being a jerk this time. Alex comes and saves his life and all he does in return is treat him like an enemy.

  • On that note, Maria was being rather emotionless herself. She didnt even seem to care that she was loosing one of her best friends.

  • I cant believe that Topolsky drugged Alex! I know that shes the enemy and all but he trusted her, and what she did was below low.

  • Why didnt Maria go get her own purse? The way Michael was acting it was surprising that he was generous enough to go get it for her. There were so many things like that in this episode that didnt make any sense.

SWEETEST MOMENT: The very end was so heartbreaking! Up until now a TV show has never made me cry, but when Liz was faced with the decision of having to choose between protecting Max and keeping Alex from turning away from her I totally cracked, and the song they played didnt help any. I felt so sorry for the both of them, loosing a friend can be one of the most painful things.

FAVORITE QUOTES:

  • Liz: I need your blood. (Ooh, thats creepy)

  • Kyle: Oh, hey, look, a spy!

  • Isabel: Subtle. Hell never notice us going backwards.

  • Liz: I guess these are the things you do when you feel a certain way about someone.

  • Maria: This is the second time youve dragged me into some cheep motel.
Michael: Yeah, well, dont spread it around. Youll ruin my reputation.

  • Maria: Anyway, so Space Boy is looking at this guys aftershave, so I tell him to look in the trash, cause, you know, thats where you find the best trash.

  • Max: You saved my life.
Alex: Yeah, well, you screwed up mine.

  • Alex: Now you know what its like being left in the dark, Max.
Max: Alex, Im trying to protect you.
Alex: (whispering) I didnt know so many people cared.

Heat Wave Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: A freak heat wave falls over Roswell that seams to go to everyones heads. Michael and Maria are spending their time in storage closets sucking face, the sheriff and Marias mom go out on a date, Alex is pining over Isabel, Kyle has a new girlfriend, and Max and Liz decide to try and take their relationship to the next level (this is when they are still just friends). Meanwhile, everyone is getting ready for a big rave at the old soap factory, where things get a little out of hand, resulting in Liz and Alex spending the night in jail. Alex is still upset that no one is telling him what their big secret is, and Liz finally tells him about Max, Isabel and Michael being aliens before he caves and says something about it to the sheriff.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

There are sure a lot of scenes that take place in the bathroom in this show thats just something that I have noticed a lot over the months.

Was that really Save Farris doing that concert in Alexs dream? That was pretty cool.

LIKES:

The DJs at the party were so funny! They were also totally obnoxious, but the funny part about it is that I know so many people like that in real life; its scary.

I am so glad that Alex is finally in on the secret; I was so sad that he was being left out. The fact that his two best friends had just totally left him out of their lives until they needed him irked me.

I liked the little bonding scene between Liz and Isabel. That is defiantly not something that you see everyday.

Kyle is such a lovable jerk. I just had to say that.

All of the relationships work so well. So many times in shows and movies people are putt together just so they have someone, but there is no chemistry. But somehow all of Roswells couples work so perfectly (in my humble opinion).

DISLIKES:

In a way I wish that someone else had told Alex the truth, instead of Liz. I would have loved to see Isabel or Max try to explain it to them, or maybe even Michael (ha! Thats a laugh). And I wish that we could have seen everyone elses reaction when they found out that he now knew. Oh, well. At least he knows now.

Why must Michael be such a jerk? He could try and be at least a little bit nicer to Maria, stone wall or not.

THE SWEATEST MOMENT:

Max and Lizs first kiss! I mean, they have been teasing us with that for nine episodes now. Usually I dont care that much about first kisses, but considering Max has been head-over-heals in love with Liz ever since he first saw her, and she has been head over heals in love with him since I dont know when, and that they were playing a really cool song, and it was so beautifulSmile, smile, smile.

MY FAVORITE QUOTES:

Alex: What do you want from me? More blood? A urine sample? How about my kidney?

Maria: We were just sucking face!

Michael: I hate to tell you this, Max, but when I have urges, youre not exactly the first person that I think about.

Valenti: I was just doing my job.
Amy: Well, I appreciate the sentiment, Sheriff, but you did scar me for life and all

Isabel: He is a complex individual, with a lot of complexities.

Michael: Like, suddenly the eraser rooms not enough.

Max: Ive been waiting for this for a long time.

  Liz: Lets hope nothing explodes

TOY HOUSE Review
Written by Marty

Toy House is about the conflict that arises from Max using his powers in front of his mother. They are forced to deal not only with the questions coming from Mrs. Evans, but also acknowledge their human needs as well. In a later episode, Four Square, they take a serious look at the Pod Squads internal alien vs. human conflict, but the question of how much of their human needs can they satisfy and not jeopardize their safety is in the forefront of Toy House.

The majority of this episode focuses on Isabel and her deep need and desire to tell her mother the truth. Michael has always been more vocal about his need for a parental figure, his life is ruled by the desire to be reunited with his parents or family. He resents Max and Isabels relationship with their parents. However, it comes to light in Toy House that their happy family life isnt as satisfying as Michael believes it to be. He doesnt have to worry about keeping things from Hank, his foster father; there is no emotional investment there for him. Max and Isabel have a more difficult situation with their parents. They do love them, and the shift from keeping their secret from their parents and out right lying to them is more painful than Michael could ever understand. Also, their secret has always been a barrier for Max and Isabel, as well as the ever-present possibility that they will have to some day choose between their alien heritage and their human family weighs heavily on them.

The dynamic of the Pod Squads relationship has mostly consisted of Max and Michael being at odds with each other on basically everything, and Isabel stuck in the middle playing referee. What I enjoyed most in this episode was the friction that emerged between Max and Isabel. She desperately wanting to tell their mother the truth, and Max standing firmly against it. My favorite scene is when Isabel first stands up to him. I love that Isabel breaks free from her cool sarcasm for a moment, and tells Max how she really feels. To which Max replies, What if mom found out it's all been a sham? If we took her family away from her, it would destroy her. This of course is Maxs major fear, that he will be rejected by the ones he loves because he is alien. I liked that Maxs frustration with the situation showed. I have personally enjoyed watching him come out of his shell, seeing him express not only his love for Liz, but also his anger and fear for his predicament.

On the romantic front, I also really enjoyed the scenes with Michael and Maria. The banter of the early stages of their relationship is in full swing here. Their relationships bittersweet roller coaster ride is captured perfectly. Maria always burdened with wanting Michael to acknowledge his feelings for her in a human way, but getting the confusing and conflicting responses that are just so Michael instead. We get to see both the sweet and hurtful side of Michael repeatedly.

Although this is not a Max and Liz episode, they do have a few good scenes together. It seems that standing up to Max is the theme of the show, because Liz also confronts him about being controlling. Max and Liz are my favorite couple on the show. I love their idyllic relationship, but only to a point. I think they need to have some friction between them. I understand that they arent Michael and Maria, but I would love to see their relationship get spiced up a bit. Whether they are together or not shouldnt be their only problem.

My one gripe, which has been consistent throughout the first season, is how clueless the parents are portrayed. The fact that Max used his powers in front of his mother, and that she never really confronted him with it bothered me immensely. I had a very hard time buying that she wouldnt have forced Max to explain his actions, instead of being a wimp and begging him to tell her his secret. It seemed to me that she knew the answer, but was too afraid to face it. Perhaps Max was right after all. She wouldnt have been able to handle the truth. It is easier for her to pretend that everything is normal than face the fact that there is something different about her son. I wasnt satisfied with the way it was resolved. I personally would have liked to see a bigger confrontation. One day Max is going to have to do more than say no and run away from a problem.

One of the other highlights of this episode was the great soundtrack. The Counting Crows song Amy Hit the Atmosphere fit perfectly. We've waited so long for someone to take us back home . . . Waiting for mothers to come, so haunting, heartbreaking, and exactly what they are feeling.

Toy House is one of my favorite episodes of the first season and an excellent example of how good the show was in the beginning. I enjoyed seeing Jason Behr take Max places he hadnt been before, but the definite high point was Katherine Heigls performance. Her last scene is heart wrenching, and will always make me cry.

Into the Woods Review
Written by Jade

Talk 2 Me...

LIZ: Yes, I do. I love him, but, like, in the normal father role. Which is like 5 minutes at a time, just a few times a day...not for an entire weekend with no TV.
MARIA: Yeah. I've always found fathers grossly overrated myself.

Basically

The pining has stopped, Michael still doesnt have a father, and a signal is found. Hey, sci-fi and drama. What more could a girl ask for? Find out by reading on.

Rewind Moment

Maria is a trip, she wants to get over Michael so badly when its obvious she still wants him. All the humans are just helplessly in love. Thus, my favorite scene. No, Isabel was not looking at Alex. Yes, Max was staring at Liz, and no, they do not have dates with men. But the thought of it is just so idealistic and entertaining.

Makes Me Ill

Sheriff Valenti sucks! How could he just use his son like that. I mean Kyle not my favorite human but you cant help but pity the guy. I want Michael to find a new home, I think Hanks character is too belligerent for the show. I didnt like the turn Michaels character took in thinking River Dog was his father. Granted that he wants a family but hes smart and would have more sense then that. hes always set up for defeat, I dont like that.

He Said She Said, And Now I Say...

I hope Kyle didnt think he was going to get a beer just because hes sixteen last time I checked the legal drinking age was 18 son.

Love Jones

I just love it when friends shine Maria and Liz never fail me as the typical best friend duo. I really liked when they argued over how much Maria would get paid. I actually like the camping trip thing. Especially how the camera effortlessly moved from one family to another.

Blind Date Review
Written by Kat

Quick Summery: Liz wins a blind date contest that Maria entered her into at the KROZ radio station, and Alex and Maria audition with their band to play at the concert. Meanwhile Max is incredibly jealous because even though he has taken a step back from Liz he is still madly in love with her. While Liz is out on her date Kyle comes to help him out and ends up getting him incredibly, incredibly drunk (alcohol and Czechoslovakians dont mix). Also on that night Michael and Isabel try to find out more information about Nasedo (against Maxs advise); Liz cant stop thinking about Max and is bored out of her mind because her serious, dark-haired, mystery man is nothing like the one she wanted (Max). Maria has a panic attack because she realizes that she has never sung in front of a crowd before; and Max and Kyle decide that they refuse to be left in the gutter while Liz is having the time of her life and plan on how they are going to win her back.

Random Thoughts:

  • Did Max really not remember anything that had happened that night? It sounded like a really lame excuse. If it were true then I feel really sorry for him, but if he were lying then that is an incredibly cheap way to get out of a problem and wasnt very nice to break Lizs heart like that.

  • Who was the mystery band? I know that they probably never had one to begin with, but I was so curious!

  • Where did Nasedo get that picture of Max, Michael and Isabel? Did he steal it from the F.B.I., or did he take it himself?

  • Does Liz always leave candles burning on her balcony while she is away, or did Max and Kyle decide to light those because it would be a romantic touch?

  • I wonder what ever happened to poor Doug Shallow. Did Liz just leave him standing up there and never even apologize for the humiliating date?

  • Does Isabel always say come in automatically when someone knocks on her window without checking to see who it is first? She seemed surprised when she saw that it was Michael, but who did she expect it to be? Who comes to Isabels window so often that she would have automatically assumed that it was that person?

  • It is funny that in Maxs drunken little head he acts like it is Lizs fault that they arent together. He never came out and told Kyle what happened. He said that he blew it with her but he also said that the problem was he a dark-haired mystery man from an exotic place, so it was like it was Lizs problem that she didnt know what she really wanted.

  • Where were everybodys parents during all of this? Did anybody care that their kids were running around on dates with collage students and getting drunk and vandalizing public property? Wouldnt Marias mom and Alexs parents want to see their kids when they performed in front of the entire town?

Likes:

I loved nearly everything in this episode. All of the music was great, and every line and every expression was totally priceless, so it is hard to choose just a few things to write about, but here are some of my favorites:

  • Kyle was great. He was better then great. Where has he been all this time?! He has always been in the background, once in a while coming out to stalk Liz or to remind his dad of his existence, but he has never gotten a chance to shine like this before. Everything he said had me rolling out of my seat clutching my stomach in laughter=)

  • Max makes such and adorable drunk! I loved that one line where he said, All I had was one little sip, and then whispering ever so quietly, and its not wearing off. And the look on his face when he flagged down the KROZ van. He was so proud of himself!

  • I was laughing my head off when Max tried to die Dougs hair blond! I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when Liz stopped him, though. It would be so much fun to see what would have happened if he had actually gone through with it.

  • I loved the Whits version of In the Air Tonight. I thought that that was very nicely done and it was a great song for the occasion, and I liked how Colin and Majandra got to use their musical talents on the show.

  • Who would have ever thought that Max and Kyle would get along so well?? All of their scenes together were so great that its not even funny. Now why cant they just get along while they are sober?

  • I am a total Dreamgirl so the scenes between Max and Liz made my heart soar. Why cant Max be open with her and tell her how he really feels more often? Why cant he give her magic light shows more often?

Dislikes:

  • I have to admit that I was a little annoyed at Maria in this episode. Alex finally had a chance to shine in the spotlight with his band when Maria comes along and takes over, saying that it was her band. She should have given Alex a lot more (if not all) credit.

  • The think that the scenes where Isabel and Michael were nicely done but they didnt fit in with the rest of the episode at all. I think that they would have been better if they were in another episode, or at least tied in with everything else more.

The Sweetest Moment:

I would say the very end when Max kissed Liz and she saw flashes from all the great times that they have had together, but that would be cheating because that was practically all of Max and Lizs sweet moments mashed into one. So, not counting that, the sweetest moment is obviously the scene when Max and Liz were running away from the radio DJs. That was so beautifully done I had tears in my eyes! Every thing that he said was so cheesy yet so sweet and heartfelt that it was hard to believe that it wasnt real. The way that the lights were done with the music box music and the car alarm in the background was all so surreal and dreamlike. Why cant all guys do that? And sparkling parking meters? Geesh! He really knows how to charm a girl.

My Favorite Quotes:

  • Alex: Whats wrong with The Whits?
Maria: Just an s away from what you really are!

  • DJ: Whats running through your mind right now, Liz?
Liz: Oh um yeah uh yeah, nothing I can say on live radio.

  • Liz: Ok. Embarrassing, humiliating, mortifying, I dont know.
Choose your SAT word, I am not forgiving you for a very, very long time.

  • Michael: It was clear in my hallucination!
Max: Hallucination would be the key word there.

  • Kyle: How the hell did you get up there?!
    Max: I used the ladder.
    Kyle: There is no ladder.
    Max: Well, yeah, now.

  • Kyle: So lets be brutally honest with each other here, shall we? You and Liz are in LOVE.
Max: No flies on you, Kyle.
Kyle: Ok, so then why arent you together?
Max: The problem is that Im a serious, dark-haired mystery man from an exotic place.
Kyle: But thats exactly what she wants.
    Max: Women.
    Kyle: Yeah go figure.

  • Max: Were gonna show her how we feel, and shes gonna forget all about Mr. Shallow and come back to us!
    Kyle: Shellow.
    Max: Come on!!!
Kyle: Well, how do we split her up, exactly? Every other week? Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, alternate Saturdays?

  • Kyle: How far did you and Liz get?
Max: (with a far off look in his eyes) We saw into each others souls. How bout you?
    Kyle: Second base.
Max: Well, we cant win them all!

  • DJ: Ladies and gentlemen, who is M. E. and what has he done with our dream girl?

  • Max: Lets just keep running, you and me, away from here, away from everything! I see everything so clearly now. Well go someplace where no one else knows us. As long as were together, nothing else matters.

  • Liz: This can never be normal, Max.
Max: Whats so great about normal?

  • Liz: Stay.
    Max: Staying

  • Alex: What are you doing???
    Maria: Im hyperventilating!!!

    Overall Rating:

5 Tabasco Sauce bottles out of 5 (with some spilling over the sides)

Independence Day Review
Written by Jade

Talk 2 Me...

AMY: Oh, yes, because teenagers are known for self-control. Especially teenage boys.
MARIA: Michael is not like that, ok? Well, sometimes he is, but...
AMY: What?!?

The Basics...

It's not that hard to figure out what this episode was about. Michael and his problems. We see Isabel trying to help him, but him looking for solace in Maria. I can only wonder why. In the background we even got some action for the sheriff and some mother daughter moments that were touching enough. But really you all know what made the episode.

Rewind Moment

The tear. Yes that's right a man cried, and not just any man. Michael Guerin. How perfect and even before he cried Maria was her usual self with the grief relief aside. It was just heartwarming on how friends can be there for each other. The tear didn't hurt it. And neither did Amy coming in on them the next morning.

Makes Me Ill

Michael and the Evans' scenes did not really mesh with me. He's not a jerk, so don't make him one when you put him in a new environment. Isabel is always so rude to those lowly human folk. I can't seem to justify her reasons. I didn't like Hank and I'm glad he's gone. Barely any Max and Liz interaction, I was disappointed if only for a short while that they couldn't go into the date thing.

Above Any Other

Let's see... There's the tear jerker, and then there's the Nope! Brendan Fehr gets this one for the tear alone. He himself was even proud of this performance. But it wasn't only the tear people. He did run away and come back. And he protected Maria's dignity. No, no. I think it's the tears.

He Said She Said, And Now I Say...

Can I get some grief relief?
Why couldn't Michael heal himself? He healed River Dog's ankle.

Love Jones

If I have to bring up Michael crying one more time I might cry myself. No I really like how the show is handling itself, last episode it was Max and Liz, this one focused on another couple. Loved Max healing Michael and the brother sister moment s between the Czechs. Isabel is a G, if it wasn't for Nascedo I think she might have actually at least tried to kill Hank.

After All Is Said And Done....

Sexual Healing Review
Written by Jade

Favorite Quote~

Maria- You didnt like go beyond?
Liz- No
Maria- I was going to say, you were only gone like five minutes

Favorite Scene~

The whole part at Michaels apartment. when The pod squad were convincing max to go for it. And then the mood lighting was just perfect. adding humor where it was needed.

General~

This was overall a very satisfying episode, pun intended. I was grateful to see things move along for all the couples. Everything was well acted, even though some scenes seemed unlikely and over the top. The episode was like heat wave with a plot. But none the less loveable.

Dislikes~

I didnt like the scene in astrology class. No one would do all that in class, just by a touch, that was too unlikely. By the second half of the show, Max and Lizs kissing sounds started to get on my nerves. and Liz really changed in this episode form her usual passive self, to aggressive and just mean to her mom. i mean its good that shes getting a backbone, but why the sudden mean streak?

Loves~

The parents got more airtime in this ep. especially Lizs mom. I think Ive heard the, Dont ever leave this house... line before. the scenes Alex and isabel shared was tender. I know I wasnt the only one who loved the camera work in the shower room scene. With their reflections and everything that was good. And Sex and Candy, is now one of my favorite songs, it fitted like a puzzle piece for that part, the strawberries really did it for me. We got to see a soft side of Maria in this ep. Where she showed her vulnerability to Michael which she usually never does. and she is such a good friend for wanting to protect Liz. And this episode took one huge step up the soulmate ladder for the dream couple, and as soon as I though it was all about sex, the ending scene had the couple joke, hold hands, and hope for a destiny together.

Questions~

Was I the only one who loved alexs pajamas?
Did he have morning breath when they kissed?
Exactly how far did Michael and Maria go?
Was I the only one who laughed at Lizs expression when she was caught?
Did anyone notice maxs face when Liz said, lets lie down?
Why are the they just now having flashes?
Did Nascedo make them?
Why was it only Liz who could detect artifacts?
Why did the hickie glow?
And then turn ugly?
And why the hell didnt they get flashes at the end, was it only so they could find that thing?
Once again, what role does Nacedo play in all this?

CRAZY Review
Written by Jade

Talk 2 Me

Maria: I'm going.
Michael: No!
Maria: Hello, Sheriff? Hi. My car's been stolen.
Michael: You're staying in the car with your head down.

The Basics

Return of Topolsky, bonding of teenagers, and the discovery of some important stuff. Nothing really to say except I was blew away at the hexalogue, my new word for when our friends all talk to each other at the same time, ei, Michael's apartment and the beautiful desert. And then they added a new character, and it's ssooo obvious they're going to use this Tess chick more.

Rewind Moment

I never thought something that happened in a kitchen would be so entertaining. But Max, Michael, Isabel, and even Tess have opened my eyes. The quirky, best friend dialogue between Max and Michael was beautiful too good to have been my favorite quote. I'm ecstatic that Michael wants Maria to be happy; maybe I should start going to French Club too. And I love the way Brendan says "eraser," his lips pucker and his voice elevates on "ra." When Tess came it was funny because it showed their paranoia.

Makes Me Ill

He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! He hit him! I really can't stress that enough. He hit him! You don't seem to understand what I'm saying Max as in Max Evans, 'the calm one', hit Michael as in Michael Guerin 'the tough one.' I mean it was like, snap! You blink your eye and Max's fist is across Michael's chin. He just hit him! I've thought about this so long that hit doesn't look like a word anymore soooo I was hurt I mean physically hurt when Tess and Isabel excluded Alex that was not kosher. I want Max and Sheriff Valenti's "heart to hearts" to end, this is not Full House. It happens in almost every episode. Valenti's timing was too perfect when Pierce approached Alex; I can't quite accept that he's just always there in the time of trouble.

Above Any Other

I'm starting to feel like I'm at the Oscars and I getting tired of making these arduous decisions all by myself. I want to give my golden orb to Brendan but if I do then I'll be ignoring how scared Alex has been lately. So the orb goes to Colin Hanks just for saying that line and looking petrified at the same time. No one could have done it better.

Love Jones I really like the hexalogues. I hope to see more. And the camera work was straight from Sundance and you could see the fear and confusion etched in each actor's face. Maria is "superwoman" for jumping out of the car while it was moving, Isabel is "fearless maiden" for not showing any weaknesses and Liz is an "alien carebear" for always wanting to help and protect. I can't over look the double date thing and the Scream thing either. I liked those two subplots.

Question

Why did Maria cut Michael off at the cliff, what was he going to say, and how in the hell did she know?
I'm a vengeful person, if Isabel didn't want to be alone, shouldn't she have called Tess?
Was the title describing Topolsky?
Who's Agent Stevens?
If that's what she wanted would I be here talking to you?
Why did Maria wear a bra with a tube top?
Why did Maria and Liz change in the bathroom when Liz lives upstairs?
Are Maria and Liz the only waitresses because they always leave?
And are Liz's parents like, never at work?

After all Is Said And Done

Notice I didn't really address the Topolsky thing because it really didn't interest me. Everything else did and that's why it's a decent episode. The hexalogues made my decade though.

4 Square Review

Talk 2 Me...

Kyle- What a knockout uh? Can't beat a blonde Oh, Sorry.

The Basics

Sugar cubes, babies, ice melting, and some sunshine, what more could a girl ask for? As scary as this episode may have been when I first viewed it, now it was quite refreshing. We were even treated to a rare delight of every couple being showcased. Along with a cute little curly haired friend.

Rewind Moment

My fave this time was gut wrenching and heartwarming, well done by Shiri. In the Crashdown, when she expressed her fear of Tess and then Max put his hand over hers. A sure sign of wanting to protect her, I loved it. And Maria was just funny, as usual with her "watch Max" monologue. Always adding humor where it's needed. And to put a cherry on my sundae, Maria and Michael were posted against each other like a real couple. That was priceless.

Makes Me Ill

The beginning of the episode was so cheesy. Good grief, it's a thin line between "heart in your hands" romance, and "molded in the fridge" cheesy. It's often that the show walks it, but this time they jumped the moon. I didn't like the desert scenes but who can blame me? I was disgusted by Is and Michael kissing and then we have her looking like she was going to her prom, and Michael looking like he just got out of bed, ( and it wasn't JUST the hair). Max wasn't really that great of guy to anyone but Liz this ep. First he expects Michael to confess his soul when he never tells him anything. And By the end of the episode he turned into a woman beater, that was so out of character, I cried for Tess, it looked like he was really hurting her.

Above Any Other

No one. How about that? The camera traveled to every character, even Kyle. So someone may get better luck for my award next review You know what? I change my mind my award goes to Brendan and Katherine, they get this award together, and explanation is not needed.

Love Jones

I never expected our friends to follow Tess I fell out of my bed when she confronted Liz. The locations where they meet never cease to amaze me. The carousel was sssooooooooo cute. I liked the sunshine committee, I liked the tension between Michael and Isabel, and I liked how they both ran to Maria and Alex when they weren't sure about what was going on.

Question

Why are you so scared to be an alien?
Why are you so scared to be human?
Am I the only one who wished one of them had answered the question?
Why is everybody following me?
Does Sheriff Valenti need a life, or is it just me?

Max to the Max Review

Talk 2 Me

Nascedo/Max: I don't think you would have been as friendly to Ed Harding

The Basics

This episode was a definite cliffhanger and had me counting the days til the next ep. I couldn't believe that they actually let Max get captured. I was on the edge of my seat when he was in the small room. And I was rather pleased with the house of mirrors scene it added a film noir touch to a captivating episode. Everything fit and if you ask me this episode was perfection with Tabasco.

Rewind Moment

I must say that my favorite scene was when Liz was running away from Nascedo and the best part was when she was on the carousel looking for him, and he was right there smiling, and looking oh so sexy on that horse.

Makes Me Ill

We know that Tess is one of them, and that Nascedo's there to protect, but I don't get why he's made as the enemy, both of them. I don't like how Michael was so violent with Tess I though he was going to hit her. And hey why was he so cruel to Maria while we're at it.

Above Any Other

Jason Behr, no contest. He was stellar and convincing at playing both roles. It was as if evil came easily to his character. And it was so easy to decipher between the real Max and the Nascedo Max because Jason is just that talented, and the looks Nascedo were giving Liz in that car were so erotic, I loved it. The real Max Evans would never make a look like that, and that just makes Jason even better.

Love Jones

It's hard to focus on anything other then Max and Liz when it was basically their episode, but I enjoyed other aspects of it as well. The part when Valenti told Pierce to get him some coffee was precious, he really thought he was going to do something important. Alex was a really good friend to Isabel and obviously concerned a little bit too jealous for me though. The relationship between Liz and Nascedo she was so scared of him, and then scared thrice over because he looked liked Max. Me? I just couldn't stop laughing. But I did when he was captured.

After All Is Said And Done

Boom. Boom. Boom. Imagine that beat eighty hundred times faster and you'll have my heartbeat after the episode ended. Need I say more?

White Room Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: Max is captured by Agent Pierce and the FBI Special Unit, and they put him in a White Room with no doors or windows to torture him and study him. Meanwhile, Michael, Isabel and Tess try to rescue them on their own by using their gifts leaving Liz, Alex, and Maria to sit and wait. Liz gets impatient and decides that it would be best if she went to Sheriff Valenti for help, and while Michael, Isabel, and Tess are trying to rescue Max they run into Nasedo, who also wants to help.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

  • Did the White Room remind anyone else of the dentists office? To me it seemed so familiar its not even funny.

  • When Maria and Alex first come to the Crashdown, Liz runs to the door before they even start to open it. Did she somehow hear them, even though she was in another room, or is it some sort of best friend connection?

  • How did everyone know that there was a second orb? Were the military the ones who buried it in the first place, and the Special Unit found out from them? And how do they know that they only work when they are together?

  • Michael + Comb = What on Earth? That goes against everything that represents Michael! I dont know what to believe in anymore.

  • Isabels dream-walking still confuses me. Did Max know that she was there? She said that they could communicate subconsciously, but was it different with Max since he is also an alien? It seemed like he really knew that she was there, but I wasnt sure.

  • I shouldnt even bother saying this, because I have said it so many times before, but where are everybodys parents during all of this? Werent Lizs parents at all curious as to why there were people screaming in her bedroom?

  • Where did Pierce get those images of all the people Max loves most? They were all clips from Blind Date and Sexual Healing, I think, except for the one of Liz dead. Did the Special Unit have hidden cameras set up on all of those occasions? Or maybe, just maybe, we arent supposed to be so obsessed with the show that we remember exactly where they got all of those images, and we are supposed to think that the Special Unit had created them out of nowhere.

LIKES:

  • You could swear that they were actually torturing Jason Behr while filming this to make it more realistic. How does he do that? The acting was almost too real in this episode.

  • That one scene when Pierce had sown Max the image of Liz was so horrible it was great. Poor, poor Max! He was so upset that Pierce was even trying to comfort him! (well, sort of). It was so intense.

  • Its cool that Michael finally has his own powers that he can control. But I wonder if he ever got his normal fingerprints back?

  • I loved the ending so much! It was so suspenseful and exiting and I dont think that I have ever been so happy to see Valenti. I was so caught up on everything else that I had totally forgotten about him, then Bam! Out of nowhere, he was there to save the day. But then came the dreaded words: To Be Continued. Argh!

Dislikes:

  • Tess. Need I say more? Yes! Because she really gave me a very good reason to hate her in this episode, besides the fact that she is always trying to tear Max and Liz apart and that I think she is obnoxious (sorry to those of you that like her, but I do). I thought that she was being pure evil. When she mind-warped Isabel, why did she have to freak her out like that? Poor Isabel was obviously on the verge of a nervous brake down, and Tess has to creep her out more than she already was. And after she did it, she was sitting there smiling! Like she was getting some sort of satisfaction out of making Isabel squirm. Thats not very nice.

  • I felt like smacking Alex and Maria. They are supposed to be Lizs best friends, and even though Liz was just rescued from a shape-shifting alien who had kidnapped her, and her boyfriend was just kidnapped himself, they practically walked right past her to go hug Michael and Isabel. And Liz just stood there, totally alone. What happened to best friends?

  • I think that they could have made it a little more believable if Isabel and Michael and Tess had tried to be a little sneakier. They were practically stomping around the military base or hospital or whatever that place was, and walking right through the middle of the hallways, and not even ducking when they were next to windows. And do all of the FBI agents have tunnel vision? You would think they would have caught them if they were being so obvious.

THE SWEETEST MOMENT:

The absolute sweetest moment in this episode (in my opinion) would be when Alex wanted to hold Isabel, incase she cant come out of the dream-walk. I think that Isabel should give him more credit than she does. How many guys are as sweet as he is?

MY FAVORITE QUOTES:

  • Alex: If Im holding on to you, maybe you wont get lost.

  • Liz: Bring him back to me.

  • Valenti: Mirrors or no mirrors, there were two Max Evens standing right in front of me. And now one of them is in the hands of Agent Pierce and the Special Unit, and Im just hoping that it wasnt the one that we all care about.

  • Michael: Ive been looking for you for a long time.
Nasedo: Not as long as Ive been looking for you.

  • Pierce: I can take you apart, piece-by-piece, and make sure that you stay conscious enough to feel every second of it.

  • Max: Whos inhuman now?

OVERALL RATING:

4 bottles of Tabasco Sauce out of 5

Destiny Review
Written by
Kara

This episode begins right where the White Room left off. The sheriff and the others help get Max out of the special unit headquarters. They all split up so that they will be harder to follow; Max goes with Liz, and the others all go together except for Valenti, who goes alone. They all agree to meet up later when it is safer. Of the three cars, Max and Liz are the only ones who are followed. Before the agents catch them, Max and Liz almost have a romantic moment, when Max puts on a shirt(what a shame) and says Listen, Liz, if we ever get out of this... Unfortunately they are cut off from both directions before he can finish. They abandon Marias car there with the windows shattered; how is she going to explain that to her mom? And with a passionate kiss, Max and Liz jump from the bridge into the river to escape.

Opening Credits:

During this commercial break, I would like to say that Max and Liz are the sweetest couple and I will love them forever.

Back to the show:

Max and Liz take shelter in an abandoned van; they kiss and Liz has visions of the white room and what the agents did to Max. At the same time, Tess tries to convince the others to go back for Nasedo. She says that they should go to the pods and wait, but after listening to her whine for a while, both Isabel and Michael say that they wont do anything without everyone, humans included. As Michael uncharacteristically, but sweetly puts it, Were not leaving anyone behind anymore.

In the van, Max and Liz have a heavy conversation about their destiny. Liz wishes that Max had let her die that day in the Crashdown because shes ruined his life, but Max reassures her that it was the moment his life began. Liz, knowing you has made me human. How sweet! Even if you are Tess fans, you have to love this scene. Max tells Liz that she is his destiny, and they confess their love for each other.

When they dont arrive at the arranged location, the others get worried, and Michael and Valenti go looking for them. (brief M&M moment). Michael and Valenti have a bonding moment in the car about why he is helping them. They see Max and Liz running from the hunters, and Michael uses his powers to fry the car and save them. Max and Liz get in the jeep, and an incredulous Valenti drives them away. They go back to the hideout, and Michael and Liz go inside while Max talks to Valenti. He confirms the sheriffs suspicions about himself, Michael, and Isabel. Then Max begs for his trust, theres no time for doubts. And still thinking about his father, Valenti says, Its my life too.

When they are all together, the teens opt to trust Valenti, but Tess says that the four aliens should go away to the rock formation together, and the others dont really matter. Isabel and Michael consider leaving Roswell for good, however, Max refuses, and Maria, Alex, and Liz say that they will not leave them. Max declares, Were taking our lives back. Good for him, hes getting more assertive.

While all of this is going on, Pierce has put a FBI agent in charge of watching Kyle(yay! We havent seen him in a long time), and Kyle becomes very frustrated. Tess makes the FBI agents see Pierce send them to Hondo. Liz has a great line here: Can you just do that with everyone? Make them see things that arent even there? Although, Im not sure if she puts two and two together with Maxs visions. Max knocks out the agent watching Kyle and stuffs him in the closet, melting the lock(I wonder if hes still in there). Max tells Kyle to stay put, and Kyle swears to kill him if anything happens to his dad. When Max leaves, Kyle follows him with a gun. Valenti then confronts Pierce and pretends to work with him to save himself and his son. Valenti leads Pierce to the UFO CENTER(by the way, where has Milton been; doesnt he sleep there?). There, Max and Michael jump out and trap them. Michael takes Valenti away while Max questions Pierce. It is a great role reversal, with Max saying almost the exact same things that Pierce said to him in the White Room. Michael indirectly thanks Valenti for his help; I always thought you were out to get us. Im glad I was wrong.

In the other room, Isabel dream walks into Pierces mind to find out what happened to Nasedo. She thinks he is dead, but Tess informs them that he cant die. She mentions River Dog, and the others tell her about the healing stones.

In the other room, Max has left, and Pierce spots Kyle. He convinces Kyle to untie him, because Max has his dad. Then he takes Kyles gun and tells him to leave. Max, Michael and Valenti come back, and Pierce jumps up to kill them. Valenti fires a round towards the other side of the room, and Michael kills Pierce with his powers. Valenti notices his gun and finds that he has shot Kyle. He begs Max to save his son. Max hesitates, which I found quite disappointing after the sheriff just saves their lives and proved himself to be trustworthy. But Max does heal Kyle, no flashes like with Liz, though, and Valenti says, I dont care who you are or what you are, Ill be there for you. William Saddler was really great in this episode. But I think that there should have been a Kyle/Max moment there.

Instead Michael confides in Max that he thinks he is evil because he kills while Max heals. He then tells Maria to stay away from him because he loves her too much- very sweet, but kind of overused. I mean, Marias mom said it to her, and Maria said it to Michael; now he says it to her. Oh well, its a great line anyway. Alex then says he understands that Isabel has to be on her own right now and gives her a hug. That guy is way too understanding.

Then the four aliens and Liz go to get Nasedo. Michael poses as an agent again, and they hijack the van that Nasedo is in. They drive it to the rock formation and use the stones to bring him back. There is a good sci-fi moment where Nasedos alien insides show up like in an x-ray, and he comes back to life as Mr. Harding. Michael asks him how the orbs work, but he disses Liz by saying, She doesnt belong here. What a jerk. Anyway, it turns out that he doesnt know how they work either, because hes not their leader. To protect them, Max suggests that he becomes Pierce to keep the special unit off their trail. Good idea, Max. The four aliens then focus on the orbs while Liz stands to the side. There is another sci-fi moment with a hologram of their mother appearing. She tells them that Max and Isabel are her children; Max is the leader of their people, married to Tess, and Michael is his second in command, engaged to Isabel. They have lived and died before, but their essence was cloned with human DNA, and they were sent to Earth to defeat their enemy aliens. My problem with this it that, if the message was pre-recorded, how did their mother know where to look when she addressed each alien. She never said their names, so for all we know, Michael could be the leader, married to Tess (just the wish of a dreamgirl).

After their mother vanishes, Tess clings to Max, saying, I knew this was meant to be. But he brushes her off to go after Liz. She says that she has to leave because he has his own destiny without her. He tries to keep her with, But you mean everything to me. However Liz runs off(after kissing him, of course), and Michael holds Max back from going after her. You have to let her go.

Scene of the episode: Max and Liz van scene
Question of the episode: How did Liz get home?

Rating: 3 thumbs up.
1 thumb up- good (no Roswell episode could be bad)
2 thumbs up: excellent
3 thumbs up: worth having the operation for a third thumb to see

Skin and Bones Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: A geologist named Grant discovers the remains of Pierce buried in the desert, and Michael is the leading suspect, which lands him in jail. Liz comes home after spending the summer in Florida, and quits her job at the Crashdown to work for the congresswoman Whitaker. Meanwhile, Valenti has been doing everything that he can to help and Nasedo, who has been posing as Pierce in Washington DC, comes back to help with the Michael situation. In the end Max is able to get to Pierces bones and changes them so that it seams like they have been in the desert for 42 years, taking all suspicion off of Michael having anything to do with it, and then Max discovers that they have an enemy called the Skins, who kill Nasedo.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

It seamed sort of weird that of all of the places that Grant could of gone in Roswell; of all of the people he could have gone to in the Crashdown, that he just happened to go to Isabel and Alexs table to ask about the sheriff. It makes you think that maybe Grant had it pre-planed.

I wish that Nasedo didnt have to die; I think that they should have had him around for at least a little while longer. I love the conflict between him and Liz; I dont think that she would ever forgive him for that time that he pretended to be Max and kidnapped her, and it would have been cool to seem them in a full blown argument (just as long as he didnt try to kill her).

Everything looks so much different. Did they remodel the back room of the Crashdown during the summer? And did Michael get a new apartment?

How did Max know how to age the bones? I know that they have super powers, but how do they always know exactly how to use them?

LIKES:

I liked how they made the transition from season one to season two in the beginning. I was wondering how they were going to do that, if they were going to have some Last season, on Roswell thing or what. And it really made me laugh because I was always wondering if Maxs parents were going to send him to a shrink. Its not like he is exactly the happiest person in the world, sadly.

I loved Maxs groveling dog thing. And it is so funny that he and Maria have become such good friends, I would have never expected that. And I loved the look on his face when he first saw Liz and how all of a sudden nothing else mattered to him except for her.

If last year we were told that Michael and the sheriff would become so close, would you have believed it? I loved the little bonding scene between the two while sitting in Michaels jail cell. It is good that Michael has a father-like figure to look up to, and now maybe he should try and stop being such a jerk to everyone else and show some compassion.

No matter how annoying Deputy Hanson was being, I thought that he was hilarious. I wonder if the sheriff could fire him for being an over-achiever?

DISLIKES:

Liz? Liz?! Where did she go? There is someone there who looks like her, and talks like her, but she is acting like a ventriloquist dummy. Did she leave her soul in Florida? Wait, no, she more likely left it with Max at the pod chamber when she ran away from him. All I know is she isnt Liz anymore and that I wish she would come back.

The congresswoman bugged me. She just had this vibe about her that made me hate her automatically. Hehe, someone told me Thats OK. Did you see how Michael was blowing up those rocks? He is going to do that to her head! Hmm, I guess some people know how to find a bright side to everything.

Grant also bugged me. Again, I dont have a very good reason why (except for the fact that I feel so sorry for poor Alex), he just really, really bugged me. He didnt seem like someone Isabel should trust.

It wasnt the Roswell that I know and love! It might as well have been an entirely different show.

MY FAVORITE QUOTES:

Maria: I am defiantly not in the market for a 30- something shape-shifter, but I have to admit the man rocks.

Maria: Girlfriend, like, I know that we bonded over the summer, but I am not quite ready to show you the bod just yet.

Max: Didnt you just tell me that you left, like, five messages for Michael in the past two days?
Maria: Whats your point?

  Hanson: I smell a rat.

  Michael: Great people skills.

Nasedo: You can never find those little pod people when you need them.

Nasedo: Sheriff Valenti. Welcome to the ever-burgeoning I know an alien club.

THE SWEETEST MOMENT: There werent all that many, so Ill say that it was when Max touched Liz and she had all of those flashes. Did he purposely do that, or was it by accident?

OVERALL RATING:

3 out of 5 Tabasco Sauce bottles.

ASK NOT Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: This episode starts out with Max running to go inform the rest of the gang about Nasedo's death. They try bringing him back to life with the healing stones but instead Nasedo dissolves into dust. Later Kyle comes back from football camp, Tess moves in with the Valentis' after a Skin breaks into her house, Max gets a new boss who is very suspicious and knows about the signal that went out the day that they contacted their mother, Liz explains to her boss that 'Pierce' left a cruel voicemail saying that he didn't want to see her again, and Maria desperately tries to mend things between Max and Liz with no luck. Michael and Isabel believe that Brody (Max's new boss) is the Skin that killed Nasedo and they think that they should kill Brody before he kills them, but Max stops them and finds out that Brody isn't an alien, just a human that believes that he was abducted by them and bought the UFO Center to search for the truth. In the very end, the Skin is reviled as Courtney, who is the obnoxious waitress at the Crashdown.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

~ What is the deal with Whitaker? She is finally starting to make some sense while she was talking to Liz about Tess, and then suddenly it turns out that it was all an act. Does she secretly work for the FBI or is she another alien or what?

~ Did anyone else notice that THING while Max was getting all of those flashes about bad and evil stuff? What in the world- er, universe- was that? It was like a giant, bloody, alien-eyeball-head. Where did they come up with that thing? Did the people who make the show purposely make that thing for the very purpose of flashing it across the screen so quickly that you can hardly see it? Or was it just something that they had lying around, and they couldn't think of a good reason to use it so they just flashed it into the show randomly?

~ Brody sure looks like an alien, whether he is one or not. I think that it's because of the hair.

~ I love how the sheriff answers his door. Does Valenti always answer his door like that? I hate to think of the poor kids on Halloween...

~ I wanted to hear Max's abduction story!!!

LIKES:

~ I love the scenes between Max and Maria. I never expected them to become friends but it's perfect. They are total opposites but have been put in very similar situations and it is so funny to watch them interact. That whole scene was so great where he was going on and on about Kennedy and she was just sitting there with the funniest expression on her face, and then finally beats him up with a book because he isn't making any sense to her at all... And the expression on his face when he said "I love Liz"... That pained expression as if that was supposed to be a good explanation for everything but it for some reason it wasn't... Poor guy. It seams like Maria has finally realized that it is a better idea for Max and Liz to together than apart and obviously can't stand to see two of her best friends so miserable.

~ Kyle and Tess are so hilarious together! It's going to be some much fun to see how them being roommates turns out. I loved Kyle's reaction when he first saw Tess... God if I had just found out that I was going to have to live under that same roof as Tess...- never mind, don't even want to think about it... But all those looks of panic Kyle got on his face were priceless.

~ It is so cute that Max has hero! He is still so much like a little boy in so many ways, so it is good that he has someone to look up to.

DISLIKES:

~ When Liz was talking to Whitaker about her love life she was making it sound like Max was a bad person. When Whitaker said "Don't let any man pull that crap on you, you know?" Liz just said "Yeah!" as if Max had actually pulled crap on her. Does she honestly believe that Max pulled crap on her? It wasn't his fault that he has another destiny, which he doesn't even want anything to do with anyways.

~ Why does Tess always have to ruin everything? It's like she plans to have bad timing or something. And who is she to lecture Max about Liz? Well I guess if anyone should, it would be her, but she is making him so unhappy!

~ Why is Michael being so mean? When Max doesn't lead Michael yells at him because he is supposed to be the leader. But when Max tries to lead Michael yells at him for ordering him around. Why can't they ever get along?

THE SWEETEST MOMENT:

The sweetest moment had to be when Max told LIz that she was the only one that he cared about. Of course she just stood there and didn't say anything, but at least Max had a chance to make it perfectly clear that his destiny meant nothing to him.

MY FAVORITE QUOTES:

~ Valenti: After all, Max Evens did save your life.
Kyle: Damn Human of him.

~ Michael: You realize that the killer could be right here right now... walking the halls looking for us... and gee, where are we? Hey, we're right here!

~ Tess: 'Sure Tess. As long as you keep your hands off me.' (Yea! She's finally getting the point!)

~ Tess: Calvin Klein. I approve.
Kyle: DAD!!!!

~ Whitaker: It's not every day that you walk in on your boss drinking and shredding... but then again, you've never worked in Washington.

~ Whitaker: Tess?! What is that?! I hate her already!
Liz: I know!!

~ Tess: Kyle Valenti- Buddhist.
Kyle: Look, I got into it over the summer-
Tess: At football camp! They're crazy about it.

~ Michael: If he kills you?
Max: Then you can be fearless leader.

~ Brody: Is this one of those "disgruntled ex-employee shows up at night to kill his boss" stories?
Max: I'd hate for it to turn to that.

~Maria: Now that's a great man.

OVERALL RATING:

3 and 3/4ths of Tabasco Sauce bottles out of 5.

Summer of '47 Review

Talk 2 Me...

Maria- "Im sorry when humans need rides they take jettas. But when aliens need rides they take spaceships, ooh find one!

The Basics....

The episode was really boring if I may say so my self. with a few perks that didnt even make up for all that it lacked. For this one episode I escaped from the events of Surprise, but I dont think I should have. and then the idea of more aliens didnt really fly with me. Then! You know what? Im going to stop complaining and get on with the review.

Rewind Moment....

This scene had the opportunity to be cheesy. But it was soo well done. The lighter coming from Michaels thumb. The zippo not working all of a sudden. The hug! I almost cried at this scene.

Makes Me Ill....

I was not impressed by the flashbacks every thing was well done by the actors but it could have don e without. And I didnt like the small role everyone besides Brendan had. Yeah this was his first time in a lead, but at least in other episodes there was room for subplots. And I did not like how the only place they could place Tess was as the bimbo. and everything was forced how did Michael and Carver go from talking about Roswell to the crash, the transition was not apparent to me.

Standout Performance....

Majandra Delfino, the accent should be enough for anyone not to question this decision. But She was just so brilliant in this episode and her acting talents just shined. And I loved her hair like that.

Love Jones....

Isabel was so beautiful as a brunette she seems like a vixen to me, I just loved her 47 character. and Michael and Maria were just adorable in this ep. Thats it. No! How could I forget? Michael finally got to hit Max back from Crazy. It was about time even though it wasnt really Michael and Max, I still loved to see that action.

END OF THE WORLD Review

Favorite Quote:

Liz... There you go, Max the Saint walking around with a condom in his back pocket.

Favorite Scene:

The bathroom scene with Future Max and Liz. Every moment was priceless. Especially when she asked him to turn around, and he gave her a look that said, are you serious? its not like i havent seen it before. and the fact that he would never be jealous of Kyle, I kept rewinding it.

General:

Oh my God! this is like the best episode ever, And if you dont agree something is terribly wrong. everything fitted together perfectly, tears were shed and laughs were made. We saw just about every character in different sense. We saw Marias vulnerable side, even more than we did in Sexual healing, she actually cried! Kyle and Tess made my millennium! It was obvious that the writers were going to pair them up, but I didnt know that theyd do it so well. Jason is so great at doing dual roles. Once again, Oh My God!

Dislikes...

The mariachi band was a little over the top, and Max wouldnt be as careless as to change the color of the roses in front of them. Michael is becoming such an anus this season, they're making him out to be the arrogant rebel, and I'm not liking it. And he lives on his own theres no way he could afford a motorcycle. I think the nudity in the Kyle/Liz scene was too much she could have had one more clothes. Theres not much that i dont like I forced these thought s out of me so lets move on.

Likes...

The whole episode...

Just kidding, Alex was great he finally got a backbone this ep and what better for than his best friend Max is really a simple man he lives by one motto, If you cant think of anything to say, just kiss the girl. Liz was out of her mind for telling him to put his shirt on, the episode gets eighty hundred points for Jason having a body like that. I also thought the scene after Liz speech, sometimes their cinematography really amazes me, The music and the tissue box, everything just flew, to a place higher than the sky. hey! Emilie de Ravin was great. She was really good at how scared she was of being rejected by Max but at the same time wanting to help, in the park scene.

Questions...

Wheres Isabel?
Do you really see gray?
why cant they just make Tess be friends with everyone, so she wont want to leave?
Who sings I shall Believe? Why werent Tess and Kyle invited to the wedding?
Why did Liz take off the towel?
Am I the only one that noticed the sheriff hasnt been around lately?
How did Liz hear about Maria and Michael, did Alex call her?
I didnt hear Courtneys shower running, does she not use water?
Where are Courtneys parents? She should at least have fake ones.

This episode was perfect in every sense of the word, and is now, i think, my favorite. And it gets eighty million bonus points for Jasons body.

HARVEST Review

Talk 2 Me

Tess: So how was he anyway?
Liz: It was great.
Tess: Noted.

The Basics

So far this season was not made to please dreamers and stargazers but at least candy dwellers get some laughs. The episode was centered on Max, Isabel, Tess, and Liz's trip to Copper Summit where they encounter an army of their enemies, on the side there was a Michael worshipping triangle going on. This was the first alien centered ep since Surprise and to me wasn't well done, but it did have it's perks, a lot of them actually, that really made the show worth watching.

Rewind Moment

The discovery of the Michael shrine was perfectly executed by both characters and was hilarious even with a pressing issue at hand. Majandra was so good at playing the stereotypical dumb blonde, and her "oohs" were so funny I rewinded just so I could laugh again. And her humor contrasted with Michael's serious about losing his Metallica shirt, I found that funny to, laughter is always the best medicine for me in this show.

Love Jones

The bonding scene in the jeep with Tess and Liz was priceless and probably will never happen again and that's what makes it so great. Tess was so funny when she said, "noted" I was falling out, and Liz apparently had a good time being able to play "bad girl." I loved the Maria-Courtney-Michael triangle this episode. Courtney really got some cool points from me with the "fifty years" comment it's too bad we won't get to see much more of her character. It was an endearing moment for Michael when he saved Courtney's body. And what else? That's it. No! It's not! The scene in the classroom was funny.

Above Any Other

I'm sorry but Majandra just does it for me this episode. Otherwise it would have literally bit the big one. Hey! Is she not funny? I mean, you don't just get much better than her and she was witty too this ep. And I know I was not the only one who loved her hair this episode.

Makes Me Ill

I did not appreciate Max becoming such an anus this time; I know he's hurt but still. Whittaker's death and the whole skin thing is just really confusing and has been making me think way too hard. I they shouldn't have waited so long to air this. It left so many gaps in the plot just was not working for me. I can't even explain it, but it was just too confusing, with the news report, the friendship leagues, the use of the name Vilandra, and even why Vanessa's parents said she was adopted in the first place. If they knew from the beginning that they were the royal four then why did the skins hesitate to make a move?

Try again?

Where the hell is Alex?
Why didn't Isabel use her powers on Nicholas from the beginning?
Is that the guy from Full House?
How'd the skins find out about Whittaker's death?
Why was Liz driving the jeep?
Am I the only one noticing a pattern of love triangles, Max/Liz/Tess, Tess/Liz/Kyle, Maria/Michael/Courtney and hey where'd Grant go?
Why did Maria call Michael her boyfriend he never even apologized for kissing Courtney on two different occasions?
Am I the only one who thinks he no longer deserves her and that she needs to move on?

After All Is Said And Done On a scale of a game of candy land, the episode was great. But otherwise it was barely a passing grade. The humor was great, but the sci-fi needed work, better luck next time.

WIPE OUT Review
Written by Kat

This was such a great episode! OK, here is my review:

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

~Where in the world is Philip Evens? It seems like they are doing whatever they can do avoid him. Is it that whoever played him last was fired or quit and they didn't hire a new dad because that would be the third one since last season?

~Of course Max had to give Kyle directions! There is all of this suspense about what Max is going to say to him after he "slept with his girlfriend" and he gives him directions. Jeez, that is such a typical guy thing to do!

~Was that supposed to be Nicholas who bumped into Max and Tess in the very end? I wasn't totally clear on that. I get bumped into by small people on scooters in the park all the time, and it's not all that mysterious, so I guess it must have been him.

~Maria saved the entire race of humans in Roswell! I hope that helps with those self-esteem problems that she has had since "Monsters".

~By the way, do jumper cables always do that when you hook them together? I'll keep that in mind the next time I see one of those strange green rods sticking out of a billboard just outside of town=)

~Did you notice how Tess helped Maria up after she fell? They actually got along during this whole episode! Now if Tess can get somewhat attached to the other people in town (but stays away from Max) then maybe she wont want to leave and Max and Liz can get back together!

~I feel so bad about what happened to Courtney. She really got on my nerves but it is still sad about how she killed herself in order to protect their secret. And none of them even trusted her all along, except Michael.

~How could Max and Michael get such a good view of the town from Liz's balcony? I thought it just faced some back alley thing, but with Liz's balcony you never know. I think that has to be the most confusing thing on the show. Has it ever been the same twice?

~I think that I would be scared out of my mind if one minute it was 10:30, and the next it was hours later. You'd think that all of the humans would have noticed this? And just out of curiosity, how did all the cars stop running after their drivers had disappeared?

LIKES:

~I love the whole Kyle-is-a-Buddhist thing. The look of horror on his dad's face when he let the fish go! That was priceless. Actually Kyle has to be one of my favorite characters this season, I am so glad that he is getting more air time!

~I can't help it. I love Nicholas. I know, he is a total brat and he is evil and all that, but he is such a perfect villain! All of their other villains aren't all that original, but Nicholas acts like a spoiled ten-year-old kid, (and looks like one, too) and while he is supposed to be hunting down the Royal Four he is drinking milk shakes and playing with race cars. I know that it's wrong, but I hope that really was him in the park at the end. They should have powerful short people on TV more often.

~That scene in the bathroom was so adorable, when Max and Michael were "innocently" trying to see what was going on while the girls were undressing Courtney and Isabelle shoved them out and slammed the door shut with her powers! I was laughing my head off at that, but I think that I was on a sugar high, so it might not have been that funny to other people. I don't know.

~I am not really into violence or anything, but the fighting scenes on Roswell are so cool! I guess 'The Club' really does help stop crime.

~That was so cute in the end while they were playing that Foo Fighter song (they rule all, by the way) and Liz and Maria and Kyle were dancing around and Isabelle gave her mom a big hug and the sheriff went to keep Alex company (that horrified poor Alex, though). I am glad that SOMEBODY decided to give Alex the time of day, he is such a sweet person.

~That was such a funny bit when the sheriff was all ticked off because he thought that green rod was a prank (hehehe).

~Oh, there are so many others, but I can't even list them all!

DISLIKES:

OK, there aren't many, but I have to put something down, so here it goes...

~I didn't really like how Tess blew up everybody with a mind warp. This isn't because I despise Tess with a passion, it's was just sort of too much if you ask me.

~Isn't it a little hard to believe that Liz, Maria, Kyle and the Sheriff were the only ones out of town when the rod thingy went off and came into town later? Especially in an extremely touristy place like Roswell.

~Why do they have to leave Alex out of the show so much? Are they even going to tell him what happened, or just decide to leave him out like they did when they went to Copper Summit?

~I have a MAJOR problem with how Max and Tess keep TOUCHING each other. Can't they just have some sort of ten foot space range between them or something? It is so gross!

THE SWEETEST MOMENT:

Ummm... This is hard. I'd have to say that the absolute sweetest moment would have to be when Kyle said "I'll take care of her" to Max. You could tell that was what Max was really worried about and Kyle knew that, even though he didn't seem to really like admitting it. And then Max just nodded with that sad misty look in his eyes, and he and Liz gave each other one of those sweet longing looks...sigh.

MY FAVORITE QUOTES: ~Maria: Please don't let me die like Elvis!

~Liz: It's looking at her thighs like two canned hams
Courtney: I heard that, you bitch!

~Maria: OK, we've got gingko, bee pollen, Echinacea, C, D, E, calcium, St. Johns Wart, and Pamprin... What? I was dating Michael Guerin!

~Kyle: What about me?
Max: You're not someone I trust. (ooh, that's harsh)

~Kyle: Hey, I've been really nice about following your orders Senor Presidente...

~Maria: How does electricity work?
Kyle: Why are you looking at me? We've been in the same Remedial Science class for three years!

~Kyle: Buddha, forgive me, but I am going to kick your ass!!!

~Nicholas: Now that's a soldier.

~Nicholas: By the way, love the hair. Hope you win=)

OVERALL RATING:

4 Tabasco sauce bottles out of 5

MEET THE DUPES Review
Written by Catallyna

I really didnt expect to like this eppy at all, but Katherine Heigel performance blew me Away and I was glued to my screen. I loved her as Lonnie and she was truly believable!

She was so in character I forgot she WAS Isabel, too. The part in the episode that really gave me the chills though was when she tells Ava that the only reason she was alive was because she loved her. I got major goose bumps! I was all like " Get out of the car, Ava!" Good thing I watch my fav show all alone, or else my hubby would look at me as if I were going crazy! Lol.

Another thing I really liked was Jason's portrayal as Zan. I kept rewinding the first part over and over. I loved how he said, " They dont want the number two, they want the royal four." The way he said it was just too sexy, I just wanted to faint. I was really sad that we didnt get to see more of Zan. I really would have liked Liz's reaction to meeting this hotty.

I am not a candy girl, but I am not too fond of how Michael has been treating Maria lately, which is why I am really happy Maria got to flirt a little with Brody when he caught everyone at the ufo museum. Michaels face was just too classic. I'm glad the writers have decided to give Maria a love interest so Michael will think twice about taking her for granted. Now I just wish they would do the same for Alex.

Now on to things I didnt like about the eppy.

First of all, I didnt like how Liz didnt tell Maria about "Michael" kissing her. And then when Maria demands an explanation she just tells her to "get over it!" I mean that is just NOT the Liz I use to love, and yes, at times, want to be.

Also, What was up with Liz not slapping Michael or something? I kind of got the feeling that she liked getting hit on by her best friends some what boyfriend.

All in all this was a good episode, not bad but not great. I suppose I could say that Katy really saved the episode with her stunning performance.

Max in the City Review
Written by Jade

Talk 2 Me

Liz: The place by that thing where we went that time with what's her name.

The Basics

I apologize in advance because I watched this episode close to eight times forever times. It almost blew End Of The World out of the water. Oh! The horror! The dupes were present for yet another episode and made may love them and hate them at the same time. Max and Tess take a trip and grow as friends, while every other character had their chance to shine in different limelights. Even the plot was brilliant. This show was perfect, so much that I found things wrong with it. That's the epitome of what I think Roswell should be accepting no imitations.

Rewind moment

Three words. Aliens. Sex. Sewer. Need I say more? I will. Because I accept no imitations and I don't want to flex on you. God could the scene have been more hilarious. It was beautiful. I liked how Max protected Tess. I fell out of my seat when he caught that ball and jumped back up when Rath got in his face. And then I spit out my soda at the "done the deed" comment, and the look on Max and Tess's faces. Did anyone else notice that both Rath and Michael like hockey?

Makes Me Ill

I hope no one shoots me for this comment but even tough it explains a lot of things, Liz being changed just sucks! I mean why wait so long to tell us and now it just makes the fact tacky. And I bet the show doesn't follow up on Kyle being changed also. I love the Nicholas character but how did he survive? I don't know where Max's rank is or the other aliens that were at the summit. Are they skins too? And if the emissary is in charge of everything why did he call Max your highness. They really need to be more factual with the alien stuff. But then again if they did that the episode would be boring. The "king of the world" bit at the very beginning was the essence of tasteless. The writers can be more original than that. I mean, come on. Plus I know I'm a loser for noticing this but the set is never consistent Maria's bed didn't look like that in Independence day. And why were their phones so ancient. I mean, even my grandma has a cordless.

Above Any Other

I wanted to give this honor to Emilie because her character is so vulnerable and sweet (Ava and Tess) and she did such a great job at portraying both but when you get right down to it that would not be fair in the stars. Katherine. I thought that Lonnie and Isabel were two completely different people portrayed by two completely different actresses. And I know I wasn't the only one. And it wasn't just because of the tattoos or the wig or the make up it was the eyes and Kate as I'm calling her now, was just that good.

Love Jones

I think I might write a novel for this one section of my review. So I'll just pick the best. I stick to the point of each aspect. I like how Tess's character is used more and I like how Ava and Liz bonded. That was sweet. Maria and Liz's friendship amazes me it's so typical, I 'm happy Maria knows no because eventually everyone else will. I love Nicholas. Brody is special! Ain't that sweet and I like Maria's hair when she went to the UFO Center. It was funny how Max did the same thing Zan did; I guess neither of them knows that I'm the man. The song playing during the last scene applied to every relationship that was showed and was just beautiful better than "I Shall Believe." The Max and Isabel moment at the end made me wish I wasn't an only child. To say I loved that part would be an understatement.

Try Again?

Why the hell does the rest of the cast keep disappearing? (Alex, Kyle, and even Michael and an insignificant part)
How did Max know where to find Tess, some alien radar?
And where did everyone go when he found her, did they leave because Max was coming?
Am I the only one who thought Max looked like a gump in that bookbag and coat?
What was that thing Lonnie kept touching in the sewer?
Who spread the rumor about Liz and Kyle?
If the dupes can shape shift why can't the pod squad?
How could Larrick and Zan have been close, if he lived on another world"?
With all those powers why didn't the dupes find a better place to live?
When everyone was downstairs at the Crashdown, where were the Parkers?
I'm sorry, but why is Alex like always on another planet?
Am I the only one who wishes Liz would grow a backbone?
Why did she hesitate to help save Max?
And while I'm on Liz
WHY THE HELL DID LIZ LIE 2 MAX? A- FREAKIN'- GAIN?

After All Is Said And Done

I just wish it wasn't over. So much can and yet so little can happen in a little under an hour! The plot was superb and so was the whole atmosphere and the little devastating romance at the end was just sprinkles on my chocolate cupcake.

A Roswell Christmas Carol Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: Max is being haunted by the ghost of a man who he could have saved but didnt, and goes to Liz for help. Isabel (AKA the Christmas Nazi) is going crazy wanting to have the perfect, normal Christmas; Michael is desperately looking for the perfect Christmas present for Maria; and Tess wants to have her first real Christmas at the Valentis. Maria discovers that Brody has a child, Sydney, who is dying of cancer, and in the end Max heals her, along with many other children with cancer, to make up for the fact he didnt save the other mans life.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

  • I never expected Brody to have a kid. I wonder who and where the mother is? Did things not work out with them because of Brodys abduction?

  • I wonder how many people noticed Max walking down the street talking to himself?

  • Where are Lizs parents? Youd think that they would at least be there with her at Christmas.

  • Isabel said something about how last Christmas was Michael and Marias first Christmas together, but werent they broken up at that point?

  • I wonder if Max and Liz ever extanged presents, and what did Maria get Michael?

  • What did Maria tell her mom about Tess?

  • How did Michael get Max out of the hospital room when he was unconscious?

  • Was there someone walking around in the laundry room at the Evans house while Max was talking to Michael?

LIKES:

  • I thought Isabel was great. Lately we havent gotten to see many of her Ice Queen moments; it seems to all be her going through some sort of emotional turmoil with the Vilandra situation. But for once she was able to let that all go and be her last-season self again. And the moments between her and Michael were so funny! I loved their constant bickering and behind-each-others-back comments.

  • Yay! Finally some Michael and Maria interaction. I loved Marias Get me a good gift or die attitude. And I love how important it was to Michael to make her happy, and his bumper idea was really sweet. And they even kissed!

  • Meaty Man? Ha ha! That was so funny. I think that the Valenti household scenes were the best part of this whole episode. Especially when the Sheriff was watching the football game and then he yelled Focus! and started doing some sort of ritual thing with his hands. And the look on Kyle and Tesss faces at the grocery store. And Tesss speech about how she deserved her own chair to sit in. And Kyle and his dads reaction to it. And the look on the sheriffs face when he found out that Amy was coming to his house. And everything else pretty much.

  • I also really liked Max in this episode. The part where he healed all of those children was very touching, but upsetting at the same time since you know that there arent really aliens that can come and heal sick children, (or at least thats what everyone says.) And the part where he went to Liz for advice was really well done; you could justsee how guilty he felt.

  • On the subject of Max, I also liked how the fact that he was an atheist didnt turn into one of those a miracle is going to happen and then he will realize how wrong he was stories. There are millions of atheists in the world, and just because they dont believe in God doesnt mean that they are bad people.

DISLIKES:

  • Lizs Youre not God speech to Max really upset me. I guess it needed to be said, but it wasnt very nice. Maybe she was just worried about Max getting into more trouble if he were found out, or about the kids being changed, but they could have made that more clear if that was what she meant. And then she didnt even say Merry Christmas to him until after she had shut her window. What was that all about?

  • Maria wanting to marry Brody was a bit odd. I know she was really upset about Sydney being sick but I didnt really like how she thought that just moving in with them would help.

  • I know that Ive said this before OK, Ive said this about a billion times before BUT WHERE IN GODS NAME WAS ALEX?! Its Christmas for goodness sake! If Colin Hanks couldnt be there while they were filming the episode they could of at least made some sort of hint that the characters at least CARED that Alex couldnt be there with them for Christmas.

SWEETEST MOMENT: The end, of course. Tess got to spend her first Christmas with a real family, things finally seemed to work out with Isabel, Michael finally found something to believe in, Maria was wearing her perfect Christmas present and Max and Liz held hands. And the music was beautiful. I also loved the earlier scenes when Michael kissed Marias cheek and the Valentis Christmas dinner with Amy, but the very last scene was my favorite.

FAVORITE QUOTES:

  • Maria: You give me that damn present on December 25th, or Ill never speak to you again.

  • Valenti: Im very concerned that you are starting to make sense to me.

  • Isabel: I think Maria would find it in her heart to forgive you for exceeding the price limit, though there would be hell to pay if you gave the girl you love and electric toothbrush for Christmas.

  • Isabel: You know, is it too much to ask that one day a year I can be like a NORMAL human being with a NORMAL life and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS?!
    Michael: No, Mien Fuhrer.
    Isabel: What?
    Michael: What?

  • Valenti: Well, we used to have more chairs, but over the years our collection has dwindled. (Ha! I love that word.)

  • Liz: I thought you didnt believe in God.
    Max: I believe in you.

OVERALL RATING: 4 out of 5 bottles of Tabasco Sauce .

To Serve and Protect Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: Isabel is having mysterious nightmares about an unknown kidnapped girl, so she and Max go to the Sheriff for help, but in order for the Sheriff to help he must risk his job. Meanwhile, Kyle is freaking out that he is turning into an alien; Liz is freaking out because she is totally obsessed with Max and she wants to get a life; and Maria is freaking out because her loser cousin, Sean is coming to stay with her and her mom after he was let out of jail, and to top it all off Liz seams to be falling for him.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

What is up with Grant? He always creped me out, but I wonder what he is up to. Was he really the one who buried the girl, like in Isabels dreams? I hate to say that I was happy to see that, but he bugs me so much and it really annoyed me that Isabel trusted him, so now she hopefully stay away from him.

Sigh. Yet another thing to come between Max and Liz. Ive come to realize to never think that things between Max and Liz have hit rock bottom, because the producers can (and will) always find something else to add to their problems. Oh, well. I guess thats what makes it interesting.

I hope that Valenti doesnt get fired! How is he supposed to weasel his way out of this one? Sorry, but I am just trying to serve and protect these teenagers, because they are really alien royalty and they saved my sons life and all, sowell, you know how it is.

Ahhhh!!! Being tied up and buried alive in an oxygen tank thingy? Not a pretty scene for a claustrophobic. Of course I have a million questions about who that girl was and why she was kidnapped in the first place, but I am assuming that they will all be answered by the end of the chronicles.

I cant wait for Alex to come back. Where has he been?

LIKES:

Tess is right; Kyle is a completely cute idiot. His dream had me rolling with laughter; how he had mixed Buddhism and Shakespeare and sci-fi into one hilarious package. And his freak out about how the Tabasco- Strawberry short cake was almost tasty and how Max had transmoderfied him was so great and was totally something I could see him doing.

I am glad that they are finally answering all of the questions about the Sheriff. I was always wondering what everyone else thought about him disappearing for days and hanging around teenagers all of the time. And I was curious as to what ever happened with the Hubble situation and what Grant was going to do about Valenti and Max breaking into his hotel room. I was afraid that they were just going to blow all of that off and never bring it up again, but finally they are answering some old questions.

I like Sean, even though he is another obstacle for Max and Liz. I wonder how he is going to fit into everything, and I cant wait until we get to see how Max reacts to him (assuming that they meet, I dont know).

DISLIKES:

Lizs dream was I dont even know if there is a word to describe it. I mean, Brad??? Where on earth did he come from? The whole thing was funny in a way, but the Would you like fries with that? and Oh, my was just a little much.

Max was being such a jerk! Did he really have to yell at Isabel like that? You were wrong. I cant believe that he said that. And jeez, how many You are my sister and I love you type moments between Max and Isabel do we have to have? Once in a while it is sort of sweet, but it seems to be happening in every-other episode. My goodness.

THE SWEETEST MOMENT: Um, this is really hard. I dont think that there was even a trace of conventional couple-ism in this entire episode, except for a few cute Kyle and Tess scenes and Lizs freaky dream. There where a few non-romantic sweet moments, so I guess that the sweetest moments would be when Valenti is trying to stick up for the kids. You can tell that he really cares for them a lot and he is very fatherly; there sure is a huge difference then from what he was like a year ago.

QUOTABLES:

Buddha: Dude, like, accept your destiny.

Kyle: Im not ready for this.
Tess: Not ready for what?
Kyle: The CHANGE. Im not ready to be, like, half human, half alienfreakazoid.

Maria: She is way off limits to you, ok? Way, way off limits.
Sean: Way.

Liz: Im sorry, what were you saying?
Kyle: Nothing. I was just talking to myself. (To Maria) Hey, you got any cousins for me?

Girl: How did you know to find me?
Valenti: Someone heard your cry out for help.

3 Tabasco bottles out of 5.

We Are Family Review
Written by Jade

Talk 2 Me...

Isabel- You know you could have just used your foot.
Michael- I couldve

The Basically....

The second installment of the non to impressive hybrid chronicles, the return of a disappeared friend, and an African American (finally). So much happened in this episode I didnt know where it was going, there were like eighty hundred plots and none of them were fully developed. But they werent that great to start off with. The episode was decent enough, but not our usual Roswell caliber, if it wasnt for Kyle it may have sunken to the level of, I dont know, "Wasteland?"

Rewind Moment....

I know everybody who had enough sense to tape this episode rewinded this very moment also. You know what Im talking about. When Kyle dropped the blue thing instead of handing it to him. A hush probably fell over the Earth because we just didnt know what to expect after that. Everyone was like speechless. And I couldnt do anything but stare, my face was on the floor right along with that blue thing. It was major, just major. No one else in the cast would ever have enough balls to do something like that.

Makes Me Ill....

This whole freaking hybrid thing just sucks. And so does this Laurie girl. i just wanted to say, "stop whining and never, ever snitch on the sheriff again." For the first time since the dawn of the universe I was disappointed in the eraser room. That whole grow speech was just stupid. And so was the whole traveling thing to. Now all of a sudden Liz wants to be an exchange student? Im not buying it. and then Max and Lizs whole relationship just confuses me now. Theyre changing too much, even though I tape every episode I watched end of the world to this one straight through, and I still seemed to miss the part where he forgave her for sleeping with Kyle. And then Max is just becoming sad, he was the hero last season and now hes like this pathetic lonely, creature. Michael could have been a little bit more sympathetic to Valenti too. It just sucks that he was fired.

Performance Of The Freakin Decade...

This is the first time a human has done it all by himself, Nick Weschler is making history people. Every scene he was in he stole it. His acting was superb in this episode. In the grocery store scene his shoulders slumped, he bumped into Max twice, and he gave this perfect speech in the Crashdown.

Love Jones....

Heeeeeeeees baaack! ALEX IS HERE! Liz and Maria played the perfect giddy friends when they first saw him. I liked the little slide show too. The report card part was well done. I was so scared I thought Kyle was going to be caught. This episode did well on keeping the audience on our toes. I almost cried at the supermarket, until Supermom Amy Deluca came to the rescue, I loved it. Liz putting "grow," on the burger was endearing but I think it might mean shes going to give Shawn a chance and I dont want that to happen. Tess is so sweet, she was just going to leave when she thought she was invading Kyles space. shes a sweetheart.

Break Up 2 Make Up...

The point in We Are Family that made the episode all of a sudden suck was, "Youre my favorite Martian." It was like Velveeta. That soon became perfect for some nachos after, I remembered Alex dissing Isabel. He Said She Said, And Now I Say...

There was no twinkle between Liz and Sean, what i nt he world was Alex talking about?

Okay. Im going to break it down for myself because Kyle confused the Cheshosovkia out of me. Tess is an alien. Max is an alien. Kyle wants Max and his alien comrades to stay away from his family. His alien comrades like Isabel and Tess. But yet Kyle considers Tess a part of his family. How can he protect his family from alien when a member of his family is an alien?

I have this peculiar feeling that more people are going to be added to the "I know an alien club"( the new agent, Shawn)

How is Valenti going to support his family with no job?

Now, why didnt Valenti, Max, and Isabel have there story straight before the questioning? And why doesnt anyone like Shawn, I dont like him because hes new and a threat to Max and Liz, but why doesnt Maria or Alex?

Speaking of Maria, where was she during the slide show?

After All Is Said And Done

Sometimes is just so hard to conclude a show like Roswell because there's so many things to say about it. And regardless of flaws, Im still like a fan of the show, hopelessly devoted. Now matter how bad an episode might be, something makes me smile. And I still love it. And then once in a while my reward for loyalty comes through in episodes like "Journey 2 New York," and "End of the World." So Im going to use Kats rating system instead of another one of these speeches.

We Are Family gets 2 and 1/2 Tabasco bottles. (out of 5)

Disturbing Behavior Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: Michael and Maria rescue Laurie from the kidnappers and take her out of town to find her grandfather. Max and Liz figure out that the weird blue blob-crystal found at Lauries grave site is an alien parasite, and after Isabel uses Brody to phone home and ask about it they discover that the parasite is so deadly that they (the aliens) have to evacuate the planet. Meanwhile, Valenti is in a dark place due to the fact that Grant is holding a 15 million dollar lawsuit against him, and Amy Deluca is going insane with the fact that Maria is on a road trip with Michael.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

  • Why on earth did the aliens put a deadly parasite on the ship in the first place if it was so deadly?

  • I wonder if Grant is being controlled by an alien, like Brody was, or if he just did that so the Sheriff would hit him and get into more trouble? And I thought that the Sheriff had shot the kidnapper. Whatever happened to that?

  • Why did Max want to keep Liz out of it? Did it have to do with the fact that he is still mad at her about the Kyle thing, or is he thinking about what Kyle said about hurting everyone that he touches, and wants to give her space to grow?

LIKES:

  • I am so happy that they are starting to show some concern from the parents. I always wondered why they were so at ease with the fact that there children running off on spur of the moment camping trips to the middle of who-knows-where. And Amy Deluca, my goodness, was so great and hilarious and every single one of her lines was absolutely priceless.

  • Did I see Michaels stone wall crumble a little bit? He was acting more like a human in this episode than he has in a long time. I loved the look on his face when he was trying to think of something nice to say to Laurie. Did I see tumbleweed bouncing by?

  • Thank goodness Agent Doff is going to help the Sheriff. How can the Sheriff be the Sheriff if he is no longer the Sheriff? The funny thing was everybody still called him that, even though he lost his job.

DISLIKES:

  • Maria wasnt being very nice! She has always has a sarcastic remark for just about everything but she was being down right mean to Laurie. Not that I blame her for being frustrated, its just that the poor girl didnt need to be treated like that.

  • I hate how it seems that the Pod Squad can basically do what ever they want with their powers with no explanation of how they know how to do it. How was Isabel able to so easily connect to Lerik through Brodys body when she had never even tried it before? And I know that Liz is really great at science, but I didnt know that she was a walking encyclopedia. It seams that when it comes to biology she is smarter than a college professor. Where did she learn all that?

THE SWEETEST MOMENT:

OK, this moment was so sweet that it made my teeth hurt, but the sweetest moment had to be Michael and Lauries heart-to-heart. For a guy who is almost completely emotionally retarded, he sure does a good job of hiding it from time to time. And I loved it when Laurie said, Youre not my grandpa, are you? It really surprised me when she had said that, because until that point I thought that she was just overly paranoid, not totally crazy.

QUOTABLES:

  • MAria: Id prefer that you didnt say anything at all. Im just telling you that if were chasing down some crazy girl in the middle of the night, the only reason that Id do something so nuts is because we were back together again.
    Michael: Whatever.
Maria: I TOLD you not to say anything.

  • Amy: She lied to her mother, just like she lied to me the other four times she took off for days on end, each time leaving out on the open road another piece of her innocence and my Jetta.

  • Maria: Were being free spirits, mom.
Amy: That means youre going to Sedona to get stoned and have sex in the hills???

  • Amy: Michael, I want you to listen to me very, very carefully. On this glorious, rebellious, lost weekend of yours, you will take care of my daughter. You will protect her, and be kind to her, and she will have fun. You will NOT get matching tattoos, and you will not allow her to pierce any part of her body that cannot be shown in polite company, and Michael, if you have sex with my daughter, I will hunt you down and kill you like the mangy dog you are. OK?
    Michael: OK.
Amy: Call me if you need bail money.

How the Other Half Lives Review
Written by Jade

Talk 2 Me...

Maria- Just start applauding now
Michael- (starts to clap)

Basically

Lets make this one straight to the point, anyone who did not just eat this episode with m&ms and tabasco, stand up now. So I can smack you down. Sci-fi and romance between Michael and Maria. While Liz and Tess act friendly and Kyle and Alex share some of the limelight. Incredible.

Rewind Moment

This one was so hard for me. It was between Michael and Maria, and Kyle and Alex. I went with the human duo. Call me biased I know. But they were funny. Hey Kyle got to vent out about being in a chain gang. And then when they found the cave, Alex started bowing in front of an invisible audience ( I by the way was clapping for him). The whole digging scene with the two of them was just so well done.

A Cut Above The Rest....

I have to give it to these people since Kyle got best scene. This is the first time Im rewarding a couple with this honor. and you all know who they are so they shall remain nameless. The female, for her brilliance, her humor in acting rich, how she had the male under control ( he actually went to get the root beer), and for her being so funny and sarcastic, and dauntless. Next the male, for his biting sarcastic remarks, for his rare sentimental moments, for lying to Laurie about coming up with the idea, for wearing those two sexy rings, for saving the day and taking the bullet like a man. And to both for being my fave Roswell couple, and then last but not least for KISSING! The first kiss of the season that wasnt forced or a quick peck. Picture that! I mean sex used to bombard last season, (Heat Wave, Sexual Healing.)

Makes Me Ill

I keep doing the hard ones first. Larik should have told them how to kill the crystals in the first place, I think Liz figured it out way to quickly for it to have been realistic.

He Said She Said, And Now I Say...

Every new character freaking dies on this show. Just when I started to like Grant, ( who by the way was a great actor) and I was even getting attached to Carmen. I guess Laurie just got lucky because she was Michaels sister.

What was that green condiment beside the tabasco at the Crashdown?

Why was Grant acting crazy only periodically, wasn't the queen in him the whole time?

Bad stuff always happens to Isabel, I felt so bad for her. She feels like everything she touches goes wrong, and you could tell. Can we get her back with Alex? Please.

I must say every character I loved, especially Kyle. But Im so crazy about this one that I like Bobby and mer, and even the queen because of the way she died.

Love Jones

I liked the new characters this episode, every single one. Laurie was sweet, Grant saved Isabel, and Duff, shes just cool. Alex and Kyle are just goofy. The rain added to the drama of the episode, and it was happy, adventurous rain. Not depressing rain like in, "Tess Lies and Videotape." Lizs performance was rewarding she acted realistic and funny in a crisis. It was funny when she told Kyle to "breathe shallow" Valenti handles the situation with Duff real well, just like a pro. and i cant leave Maria and Michael out. And then, this one is for Kat, Liz and Tess were friends screaming and laughing in joy together, hugging even. Picture that!

After All Is Said And Done....

I sure do wish I was the "Other Half" right about now, seeing as though I would be the other half of 5 out of 5 tabasco bottles.

Viva Las Vegas Review
Written by Kat

QUICK SUMMARY: Michael wants to go to Las Vegas with Max in order to blow off all of the 50,000 dollars that the Duprees bribed him with, and the rest of the gang tags along.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

  • I was wondering about that vision that Max had of him and Liz jumping out of the cab right after they had gotten married. Was he somehow getting a flash of the past of the future, or was it one of his own fantasies, or maybe did he somehow get it off of some weird connection with Liz? Or was it just an excuse that the producers made up to make Dreamers smile? (If that is the case, then I am grateful.)

  • How come everyone can open his or her lockers at West Roswell High without putting the combination in first?

  • What on earth did Michael put in his coffee?

  • This may just be my overactive imagination, and a little bit unimportant, but I could have sworn that I saw Max and Michael totally checking out the two girls that were walking past them in the very end.

LIKES:

  • I thought that Maria was exceptionally great during this episode. I loved her little intro at the very beginning, it was a perfect way to explain things for people who have just started watching and dont have any idea about whats going on. And then the look on her face from when she was hurrying away from Michael to go tell Liz and Alex about the trip was so perfect!

  • Even though there were a lot of things said between Max and Michael that probably shouldnt have been, I am glad that things seem to be worked out between them and that they are real friends again. I wonder how long that is going to last, though?

  • The I.D. names were so cute! They all seemed to fit their characters in one way or another. (Maybe Doctor Love didnt quite work for Michael, but it just shows how full of himself he can be.)

  • Valentis performance was SO well done. Theres nothing worse than the after effects of a panicked parent, and William Sadler seemed to capture the horrible art of it all perfectly. I think that it was a good thing that they showed that parents still existed in their lives, I was worried that they were going to act like none of them even had parents that cared about them, (as they usually do.)

DISLIKES:

  • I thought that all of the scenes with Isabel and the best man were incredibly sleazy. I dont think that I have ever heard more disgusting kissing sound effects in my life, and I was totally shocked that Isabel even considered going to bed with him. And then she goes back to Alex and says And here I am. Alone, again. I guess that by now I shouldnt be surprised that she treats him like a nobody, but does she have any respect for his feelings at all?

  • I was also surprised at how Tess treated Liz. I thought that they were getting along now, and then Tess went and told her just exactly how happy she was to be stuck with Liz in Vegas as if she wouldnt even care. I guess some things will never change.

  • How could they tease us with Liz almost telling Max her secret? How long are they going to torture us with that? At least theyre heading somewhere now, but they were so close.

THE SWEETEST MOMENT:

The dance, of course! Michael made Marias dream come true, Tess and Kyle shared their first dance, Max came back to see Liz and tell her about the flash he had of them getting married, and Isabel decided that she would rather dance with Alex than loose her virginity to a total stranger. They were all so happy!

QUOTABLES:

  • Max: If anybody asks, our original topic was space travel: wave to the future misbegotten dream. (I loved his accent!)

  • Maria: Come on Liz, all of the cool kids are doing it!
Liz: I would really appreciate it if you would respect my decision.

  • Maria: I was auditioning to be a stripper! Little innocent me.
Michael: Did you get the job?

  • Maria: Wait, if youre in jail, than that means this is your only call.
    Michael: Exactly.
    Maria: (click)

  • Alex: Doesnt Buddhism disapprove of gambling?
Kyle: Actually, it was the Buddha himself who first conjured the phrase Know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run.

  • Maria: Could you please help keep his lost, poor soul from further traveling down the path of destruction?
Casino Guy: Im sorry, sir, thats casino policy.

  • Maria: Liz, Im worried. I plan on being a worldly woman, and how can I be when Michael is trapped in a world of armpit farts and Playstation?
